Romance
The last of this year's additions to the Lucky Harbor
series is about Grace who is
one of three friends looking for that allusive someone.
Each book stands on its own but it's such a joy enmeshing
yourself in all three of their stories.
Grace is extraordinary but she doesn't really know or
acknowledge that. She sees herself as the underachiever in a
massively overachieving family. What she needs now is some
fun. Smart mouth, sassy, and sexy too Josh just
can't help but notice and be attracted to the worst
possible choice of a woman for him and his already chaotic
life. But the heart isn't so choosy.
Grace issn't planning on staying in Lucky Harbor -- it is
just a stopover on her search for a job. She is getting
rather anxious having sent so many applications with no
bites and dreads admitting to her parents that her career
path has hit a major stag.
In town she is doing a bunch of odd jobs to boost her
meager savings and has resorted to doing some she isn't
actually skilled at -- the latest is dog walking.
Innocuous surely a college graduate accountant could manage
walking a dog but she never counted on Tank. Once she
realizes that Tank is yet another part of Josh's life
that is overfilling with responsibilities Grace just
can't seem to avoid getting involved. Between his
hospital and office practice, Josh is also running solo on
bringing up his five year old son and supporting his twenty
one year old sister. Too many things on that man's plate
and Grace knows better than to enter that fray. Well at least
her brain does.
Grace manages to bring some order to his chaos and well it
doesn't hurt that she also seems to be the salve his
damaged heart needs. It isn't just Dr. Josh's heart and
life that need some healing. And Grace is proving to be
so much more that he could ever have hoped or wished for.
Grace brings fun into his life -- she makes him smile --
she makes his heart beat faster. Grace could wind up being
the best medicine for this busy doctor and his somewhat
crazy family.
Josh needs to take a chance and in order to do that
changes are needed in his life. Big changes. Grace needs
a really good reason to stay in Lucky Harbor -- could Josh
and his family be reason enough to put down roots in this
little town.
I love this series and I especially loved Grace's story.
Shalvis fills Lucky Harbor with some of the best and
quirkiest characters ever, just wait till you meet Lucille.
Get ready to fall madly in love with the place, the people
and the author.
SUMMARY
LOVE CAN HAPPEN IN A HEARTBEAT Grace never thought she'd be starting her life over from
scratch. Losing everything has landed her in Lucky Harbor,
working as a dog walker for overwhelmed ER doctor Josh
Scott. But the day his nanny fails to show up, Grace goes
from caring for Josh's lovable mutt to caring for his
rambunctious son. Soon Grace is playing house with the sexy
single dad . . . With so many people depending on him, Josh has no time for
anything outside of his clinic and family-until Grace
arrives in town. Now this brainy blonde is turning his life
inside out and giving a whole new meaning to the phrase
"good bedside manner." Josh and Grace don't know if what
they have can last. But in a town like Lucky Harbor, a
lifetime of love starts with just one day . . .
ExcerptBy noon, Josh wasn't even halfway through his day, and
he'd already been overloaded, overworked, and quite
possibly teetering on the edge of burnout. He could feel
it creeping in on him in unguarded moments, like now when
he was parking his car between his house and the beach to
deal with Grace Brooks.
He knew who she was. He'd seen her around. Blue eyes,
a quick smile, long, shiny blonde hair, and a willowy yet
curvy body that could drive a man right out of his mind if
he gave it too much thought.
As he walked across the sand towards the water, doing
his best not to give it any thought, he caught sight of her
in the water. She was facing the waves, her hands on her
head in a distraught pose. With a frown, he picked up the
pace, just as something dashed towards him in his
peripheral vision.
Something small.
Something evil.
Something named Tank. Josh scooped up the sand-covered
puppy and held it away from him. The pug wriggled
intently, running in air, trying to get closer to Josh.
Finally giving up, Tank refocused his attention on the
woman in the ocean.
"Oh, I see her," Josh said. "And what the hell have you
done now?"
