An ancient vendetta had destroyed the young life of Maarja Daire when she was 4 years old. Hiding in plain sight has worked wonders making her the GIRL ANONYMOUS. A fine arts mover Maarja is used to handling precious and priceless belongings but her next job takes her back to where her life was changed forever.
Once a boy that she adored, Dante Arundel is now a ruthless boss having taken over for the father that had died as a result of the vendetta along with Maarja’s mother. She fears he might remember her, by the way he watches her as she packs away the art treasures for his wheelchair-bound mother. When she rushes to rescue the woman from an unexpected explosion she realizes that act of bravery places her right where he didn’t know he wanted her.
GIRL ANONYMOUS is touted by the publisher as a cross between The Godfather and West Side Story and is a very close analysis of this psychological thriller by author Christina Dodd. The Arundel family had been led by the very cruel, narcissistic and crazy Benoit Arundel and Dante had been working for years to bring them into the 21st century, away from the illegal and cruel. Now with the last of the Daire family where he can use her the vendetta will end one way or another. Maarja’s life had never been easy but after her mother’s death and the love of a foster mother and “sisters,” she had a good life. She really didn’t want to get involved with Dante, but the job was one that the company she worked for could not pass up. She was curious to see if the man he had become was like his father or if had he managed to be more human.
GIRL ANONYMOUS begins with a bang and the action, intrigue and danger move fast. The two families’ setup is very interesting and when it comes to the Arundel family quite twisted. There are a lot of secrets and many only come out in the surprising ending.
There is a paranormal touch that has to do with a bottle called the Bottiglia di Fiamma, which the couple had united with the stopper as a sign of the end of the feud. A very intriguing touch indeed and to understand better you will have to read GIRL ANONYMOUS.
Christina Dodd is an author who has a way of telling a story that will delight all types of readers. She will send readers down a twisted road with many unexpected turns that will lead you to many mind-blowing moments. And GIRL ANONYMOUS is the perfect example of her style and a book you will not want to miss.
