Every year the Fox family plans their favorite vacation. They allow the children Thea and Rem two weeks with their grandmother, Lucy, in the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky. This also gives their parents time together. They had no idea that it would be the beginning of tragedy for the family and MIND GAMES that would affect Thea for many years to follow.

Thea had inherited her grandmother’s gift – that could sometimes feel like a curse – for on this hot summer night she “saw” the person who broke into their home in Virginia and destroyed her world. Proving the truth of her gift brings the killer to prison and gives her two friends in law enforcement who would also come to her a few times to save others. It takes a strong woman to survive the destruction of her family, the heartbreak of betrayal as a young adult and the continuous encroachment of the MIND GAMES by the evil prisoner.

MIND GAMES is probably Nora Roberts at her very best. She takes readers from the innocence of Thea and Rem’s young lives to college, to living a dream and to a romance – that almost falls apart –to the HEA that fans expect. Thea’s world is nearly destroyed by an evil person and watching her continue to live and grow gives hints of the woman she will one day be. Rem was 10 when their parents died and a near-genius when it comes to finance and strategies. He also adds to the typical brother/sister drama by being a pain yet there for her when she needs him. Lucy is the grandmother that readers might wish they had, or see hints of their own in her love and care. She is strong and loving and believes in the family to the point that she is more than willing to fight for Thea and Rem.

The romantic side for the adult Thea comes in the form of a former rock star turned loving dad to a little boy – Tyler Brennan. He is trying to make a good life for his son, Braydon in the home of his late great-aunt. At first, he isn’t sure about being there but soon the small town, Thea, Rem, Lucy and his son’s pleasure make him think of permanent. Unfortunately, as he had been betrayed a couple of times during his rock star days he is not the most trusting and an incident sends him into an overprotective mode. Luckily for him, Thea is very forgiving.

Ms. Roberts’ writing style is pure magic and MIND GAMES is another amazing example. This story will pull you into this saga and not let you go as you follow Thea through her life. The supporting characters are well fleshed out with varied personalities that might depict people readers know and others they hope never to meet.

MIND GAMES is a must-read for fans of suspense, romance, contemporary and, of course, Nora Roberts!
