The H.H. Holmes Society has the F.B.I. on their toes. This society is named after America’s first serial killer and has spread throughout Europe. Luke Kendrick, F.B.I. special agent, recognizes the evidence related to that society during his latest investigation. Castles are the favorite setting, and they are moving fast to stop seeing DEATH BEHIND EVERY DOOR.
Posing as a tourist, special agent Carly MacDonald checks into the Scottish castle turned B & B – Graystone Castle. Where rumor has it that some had checked in and were never seen again. Together they manage to strike at the killer there, but this is only one of many that belong to this society. Can the Blackbird crew stop these twisted killers?
DEATH BEHIND EVERY DOOR is another of author Heather Graham’s amazing Blackbird Files releases. This time the agents find themselves in Scotland and Ms. Graham makes readers feel as if they are there. She is highly descriptive in a way that allows fans to clearly see the buildings and people involved in the story. The history, that is brought out during conversations or added into the storyline in other ways is always entertaining and interesting.
The way Carly and Luke clicked is also a nod to this author’s writing style. Though their initial meeting was fraught with danger, they were able to converse easily, and you could feel the respect they quickly shared as they became partners. A good start to a steamy romance during stressful times and appalling danger that befalls these agents as they chase down a society of serial killers.
DEATH BEHIND EVERY DOOR is a bit darker than Ms. Graham’s Krewe of Hunters series. They are dealing with serial killers and more urgent life-or-death moments. I will say that the feel of these books – though darker – is much the same as far as the team members who are involved. They are good people, who try to believe that there is more good than bad in the world, who believe in what they are doing.
