This long running fan favorite series is back with its 28th Hannah Swensen MysteryCARAMEL PECAN ROLL MURDER takes us back to Lake Eden, Minnesota, where a Walleye Fishing Tournament is about to take place at the Lake Eden Inn.  Hannah is taking a break from The Cookie Jar and helping Sally with the baking at the Inn.  Hannah’s busy creating some scrumptious pastries, and she’s eager to see what the fishermen reel in, but she sure didn’t count on a dead body being the catch of the day.

Sonny Bowman, a local fishing show celebrity, has come to the tournament to catch the eye of some ladies, even though he is already engaged.  Sonny’s overlooked cohost, Joey, must do all the hard work and keep the fishermen happy while Sonny is messing around.  As the fishing tournament gets underway, there’s some stiff competition, and before long, Hannah and Norman spot a circling boat on the lake.  Something’s wrong and Hannah soon learns Sonny Bowman was murdered.   Who wanted the pompous local celebrity dead?  Was it a jealous husband?  Or his fiancé who caught him cheating one to many times?  Or his overworked and underappreciated cohost, Joey?   As the tournament continues, Detective Mike Kingston starts his investigation.  Of course, Hannah and her sister Andrea can’t resist a good mystery and start sleuthing.  As Hannah gets closer to a killer, can she keep Andrea and herself safe, or will a cunning killer turn a day on the lake into a second murder?

The Hannah Swensen Mystery series has a devoted fan base and a mystery formula that works.  Community is always at the forefront of the books.  Mixed in with the Lake Eden events and festivities is a murder that throws a shadow on the town and sets Hannah and her family into motion.  The fishing tournament is a nice setting and the murder and unraveling of clues are satisfying.  The mystery is a good puzzle and Hannah delights with her attention to others and her baking.  There is even a surprising revelation at the end concerning Mike, and readers will be eager to see what happens next.  CARAMEL PECAN ROLL MURDER includes several delicious recipes and a fun filled trip back to Lake Eden.  Newcomers may be a little lost and may want to start at the beginning of the series, but longtime fans will not be disappointed.  Enjoy!

SUMMARY

Embracing a sweet escape from her usual routine at The Cookie Jar, Hannah gets asked for her help in baking pastries at the local inn for a flashy fishing competition with big prizes and even bigger names. But the fun stops when she spots a runway boat on the water and, on board, the lifeless body of the event’s renowned celebrity spokesperson . . .

Famed TV show host Sonny Bowman wasn’t humble about his ability to reel in winning catches, and no one knew that better than his tragically overworked sidekick, Joey. Did Joey finally take bloody revenge on his pompous boss—or was Sonny killed by a jealous contestant?

With goodies to bake and a mess of fresh challenges mixed into her personal life, it’s either sink or swim as Hannah joins forces with her sister, Andrea, to catch a clever culprit before another unsuspecting victim goes belly up . . .
