"Will they survive the Axeman?"

Fiction | Thriller Paranormal - Supernatural

Kaitlyn Delaney had survived the horrible attack that took the lives of her parents and their best friend while they cruised and scuba-dived in the Florida Keys. Only she and the husband of the friend survived, and she only because she was helped by the ghost of an old pirate. But it was the cops who Katie felt were THE UNFORGIVEN, for they never caught the killers. They zeroed in on George Calabria the only other survivor and Katie knew they were wrong.

Dan Oliver had been a cop and part of the investigators who had zeroed in on George, despite Katie swearing there was another couple was on board with them. It was believed that if they existed they were either dead and in the ocean or non-existent. After the deaths, Katie moved to New Orleans to be near her uncle and drives a mule carriage around the Big Easy as a guide for tourists.

No longer with the force, Dan, a private investigator, is called by an old friend to a crime scene reminiscent of that long ago, now cold, case. He finds himself pulled back into that dangerous world and to a grown-up Katie. His first job is to prove to Katie that he is more open-minded than before, but it looks like someone is trying to make George look very guilty again.

THE UNFORGIVEN is a more complex mystery than the usual Krewe of Hunters books by Heather Graham. Kate doesn't want to have anything to do with the investigation or believe that she really does see and can communicate with ghosts until she has a talk with the founder of the Krewe, Adam Harrison, who does his best to convince her that it is a gift.

Dan Oliver might be the last person Katie wants to have any dealings with, but it soon becomes apparent that something is happening in the Big Easy and she has to help. If they want to survive the resurrection of the Axeman of 1919 they will have to deal with one another. Soon they are dealing rather well with one another but the no strings attached idea doesn't last long as they find many things in common, including seeing and talking to ghosts, which is also new for Dan.

The action and mystery of THE UNFORGIVEN will have you turning the pages with anticipation. The twist and turns that are always a part of Ms. Graham's books are even more twisty with characters that will fool you into thinking one thing and then finding out the truth a few pages later.

If you love a mystery that has you enthralled, and can't quite solve, do yourself a favor and pick up THE UNFORGIVEN. Just be sure to set aside a bit of time and don't trust anyone in the book until you get to the end.

SUMMARY

A tragic past. An uncertain future.

Twelve years after the grisly murder of her parents, Kaitlyn Delaney has finally found peace. She has friends, a good job, a place to call home and a new life to live. But then a shadow creeps in from Katie’s past, reminding her that she will never completely escape its terrifying grip.

When private investigator Dan Oliver is called to the scene of a gruesome crime in New Orleans, he can’t help but hear echoes of the Delaney case, the unsolved murder that made him leave law enforcement. As he digs deeper, he unearths more chilling similarities—including mysterious letters connecting the killer to a string of murders that terrorized the Big Easy in 1919.

Now reunited after all this time, Dan and Katie scour the streets together, desperate to find answers before more lives are lost. But the otherworldly roots of this evil run far deeper than they ever imagined…and only the most precious of sacrifices will bring its twisted reign to an end.
