Mystery Cozy | Mystery Culinary | Mystery Woman Sleuth

A new Hannah Swensen mystery means more delicious recipes, more Lake Eden gossip, and more suspects than snow when the infamous Mayor Bascomb is murdered in his office.   In TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE MURDER, fans will enjoy revisiting Hannah and the Lake Eden gang in the twenty-seventh installment of this long-running series.

Easter is a busy time for Hannah at The Cookie Jar, but she always has time for her sister, Andrea.  Hannah accompanies Andrea on a visit to Mayor Bascomb’s office.  Andrea is fighting mad that the mayor reprimanded Andrea’s husband when he refused to let the mayor’s nephew out of a DUI charge.  Andrea is not having it, and she lets the mayor know just how she feels with a smack that can be heard through the office halls.

After a night of rehashing the events with her family, Andrea returns to the mayor’s office with a piece of cheesecake as a peace offering.  But the mayor won’t be eating any cheesecake, because he is dead on the floor.  Andrea panics and calls Hannah.  Now Andrea is the prime suspect, and Hannah has to help her prove her innocence.  Along with her family and friends, Hannah starts investigating and uncovers a long list of suspects including the mayor’s wife, ex-mistresses, business foes, his brother, and disgruntled residents.  As Hannah uncovers more clues, she realizes the answer to the present-day mystery may lie somewhere in the mayor’s past.

This culinary cozy mystery delivers tempting treats and an entertaining mystery.   Hannah and Lake Eden are always a pleasure to revisit and long-time fans will enjoy this latest installment.  There are a few peculiar moments, such as when the mayor is murdered, and Hannah focuses too much on who will get a piece of cheesecake!  However, the story holds true to Hannah and her family and friends.  Her relationship with Norman, although not progressing, is sweet and lovely and Lake Eden is a charming destination.  Long-time fans will enjoy TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE MURDER as it serves up another delightful Hannah Swensen mystery with all the usual ingredients that fans love.  As always, delicious recipes are included.

SUMMARY

Spring has sprung in Lake Eden, Minnesota, but Hannah Swensen doesn’t have time to stop and smell the rosesnot with hot cross buns to make, treats to bake, and a sister to exonerate!

Hannah’s up to her ears with Easter orders rushing in at The Cookie Jar, plus a festive meal to prepare for a dinner party at her mother’s penthouse. But everything comes crashing to a halt when Hannah receives a panicked call from her sister Andrea—Mayor Richard Bascomb has been murdered . . . and Andrea is the prime suspect.

Even with his reputation for being a bully, Mayor Bascomb—or “Ricky Ticky,” as Hannah’s mother likes to call him—had been unusually testy in the days leading up to his death, leaving Hannah to wonder if he knew he was in danger. Meanwhile, folks with a motive for mayoral murder are popping up in Lake Eden. Was it a beleaguered colleague? A political rival? A jealous wife? Or a scorned mistress?

As orders pile up at The Cookie Jar—and children line up for Easter egg hunts—Hannah must spring into investigation mode and identify the real killer . . . before another murder happens!
