Romance Paranormal | Romance Suspense | Fantasy Urban

Nyx had always believed her sister Janelle had been wrongly accused and sent to the glymera's prison camp. The location of the horrible place was lost after the raids that practically destroyed the glymera. Nyx finds a clue that will help her rescue her sister. Little does the young woman know that the truth is sometimes hard to face. Her journey to the underground horror leads her to the Jackal and a very painful truth. And the Black Dagger Brotherhood might be the only ones who can help her end the carnage.

The Jackal was wrongly accused and has spent so many years in the underground camp that he has forgotten what life was like on the outside. He finds Nyx and realizes that a little humanity has remained as he helps her but even he cannot protect her from the truth.

THE JACKAL is the first book in J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood: Prison Camp series. Readers meet new members of the Black Dagger world who find their lives entwined with the brother Rhage. It is a surprise for Rhage to find out he has a half-brother when he believed he was all that was left.

This is an amazing read as we see what happened to something that was forgotten about by the rich and wealthy of the vampire world and the prisoners take over the prison. The Warden is insane and evil, though she does have a moment of two that show a glimmer of sanity.

Readers follow events of the past that affects the present with flashbacks. This helps add a good bit of backdrop needed to understand the Jackal and his survival.

Nyx's other sister and grandfather are good people, he doesn't stop her from her journey, though he wishes she would not take it. He knows the truth of his criminal granddaughter and only meant to protect the other two young ones in his life. She is strong and determined as she faces the truth when it comes her way and she certainly knows how to love. She loves the Jackal, the boy that comes into her home because of a car accident and accepts the truth of what was and can no longer be.

THE JACKAL is a fantastic read, with just enough of the BDB, their home, mates, and the King of Vampires (Wrath) to make any fan happy. If you want steamy, danger, intrigue, a unique enthralling world, touches of the BDB guys in their glory then you will certainly enjoy THE JACKAL.

SUMMARY

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Sinner brings another hot adventure of true love and ultimate sacrifice in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world.

The location of the glymera’s notorious prison camp was lost after the raids. When a freak accident provides Nyx clues to where her sister may still be doing time, she becomes determined to find the secret subterranean labyrinth. Embarking on a journey under the earth, she learns a terrible truth—and meets a male who changes everything forever.

The Jackal has been in the camp for so long he cannot recall anything of the freedom he once knew. Trapped by circumstances out of his control, he helps Nyx because he cannot help himself. After she discovers what happened to her sister, getting her back out becomes a deadly mission for them both.

United by a passion they can’t deny, they work together on an escape plan for Nyx—even though their destiny is to be forever apart. And as the Black Dagger Brotherhood is called upon for help, and Rhage discovers he has a half-brother who’s falsely imprisoned, a devious warden plots the deaths of them all…even the Brothers.
