It’s so wonderful to be back in the world of Pia and Dragos Caluebre! Thea Harrison did a fan poll about what her readers would like to see in terms of a novella or novellas from her during the pandemic, and the overwhelming votes were to return to the Elder Races world and specifically, back to the power couple with whom it all began.
THE UNSEEN, book 9.9 in the Elder Races series, follows shortly on the heels of Dragos and Pia’s move from Dragos’ Wyr demesne on earth to the Other land of Rhyacia. Harrison warns readers that this will end on a cliffhanger (unusual for this author), but that the next three novellas that comprise this subset should be following each shortly after the other. And good thing, because we’re left wondering what will happen next in this power struggle between Dragos and the mysterious and dangerous beings that are unexpectedly rearing their heads in Dragos’ new territory.
I was one who voted for more Pia and Dragos, and I am thrilled with Harrison’s delivery of this wonderful family. We get to luxuriate in many beloved characters from other books showing up over the course of the plot. For me, it’s like snuggling into a beloved and oh-so-soft blanket of comfort to draw this familiar paranormal world around me again. There’s plenty of humor, suspense, and love to make the reader sigh in bliss. This is more of a serialized novella, part of a set of four short stories that will be offered over time. THE UNSEEN was just the read I was looking for to bring pleasure to my heart and a happy smile to my lips. Thank you, Thea Harrison, for writing just what I needed at this time!
