This book did not ... I just didn't love it. I tried
really, really hard to
get into DEVIL IN TARTAN because I normally like Julia
London books quite a bit and
this one didn't do it for me. I never connected with Lottie
and page
after page of spending time with her didn't convince me
otherwise.
I like that London was trying to do something potentially
different
with her than other characters - she's complicated for sure
- but it
just never came together in a cohesive package for my tastes.
Additionally, Aulay and Lottie's adventures made up the
bulk of the
book and I felt the romance took a back seat. I suppose in a
way that
was a blessing since I wasn't rooting for Lottie's
success, but
perhaps if I had seen their chemistry more it would have
helped.
I'm not a super fan of pirate stories, and that may
certainly have
colored my opinion - so if adventures on the high seas are your
favorite thing, you may love this one! Otherwise, there are
others of
London's I would try - like WILD WICKED
SCOT.
