A STARDANCE SUMMER is the fourteenth installment in the
Eternity Springs
series, which just proves that Emily March is quite
a prolific author with a genius for creating a multitude of
characters with very diverse personalities. They just seem
to go
together, kind of like a huge family. My biggest question is
how did I
miss this series. But luckily, A STARDANCE SUMMER caught
my eye and I am now on a journey through all the previous
thirteen books, in short I'm hooked.
The one thing residents in Eternity Springs have in common is
their desire to find and hopefully forge a new path in their
lives.
The other thing is that these same residents are hopeless
romantics. Once they have found love it is their personal
special
mission to help their friends succeed in their own pursuit of
happiness and love.
A STARDANCE SUMMER is about having the audacity to believe
you deserve that happy ending. Liliana Howe has had feelings
for
her brother Derek's best friend Mark since she was a little
girl and
those feelings morphed into a teenage crush. Even though Derek
and Mark were kind and protective toward Liliana, the bottom
line
was that they were boys and going down quite a different path.
Liliana was a good girl who accepted and followed rules, even
when she felt there were unfair. Then Liliana's connection
to Mark
abruptly ended.
Many years later, twenty to be exact, we find Liliana once
again
facing great personal disappointment. Annoyed and hurt by
events she finds herself on the outside once again. This
summer's get away was to help Liliana get past her
problems. Instead of facing them, she had virtually run
away. The
time with her new friends the Tornado Alleycats, especially
with Patsy, was going to be life altering. The topping on
the cake
was Brick.
A STARDANCE SUMMER is about Liliana and Mark "Brick," but
the supporting cast has a way of stealing the show. The
Callahan's are a funny affectionate bunch with an ongoing
personal dialog that will have you laughing out loud. As
this was
my initiation into the Eternity Springs series, I was amazed
that I
never felt as though I came in at the middle of the show.
This is truly not
the case, which is a testament to the writing skills of
Emily March. I
can't speak of the preceding stories, but A STARDANCE
SUMMER stands on its own merit.
Emily March was simply brilliant in creating a magical group of
women who seemingly had nothing much in common except being
engaging smart and witty. Most importantly, they are
inclusive. What a wondrous concept. So in short, A STARDANCE
SUMMER is wondrous from start to finish. If you love it as
much as I did, then I expect to see you following my example
and
making it your mission to catch up. Summer is here. Why
not have an Eternity Springs reading marathon? I can't
think of a
better way to spend lazy days at the beach or poolside. Enjoy!
