Romance Contemporary | Romance Western

A man has been following Ainsley Hamilton for a few months, and although he has seemed harmless, when the sheriff hears about it, he puts his best man on the job: Sawyer Nash. Sawyer is on medical leave, but he's restless and a bodyguard job should be easy enough. Ainsley's father, Buckmaster, is running for President of the United States, so she thinks it might come with the territory. Ainsley is scouting for a location for a commercial in her home state of Montana, when Sawyer arrives on the premises, he is mistaken for a cowboy looking for work as an extra and goes along with it; it's an ideal cover. And he is just in time to rescue Ainsley from a rock slide, which is definitely not accidental...

I had loved the previous books and I could hardly wait to see what would happen. While there is a new romance in each installment of the Montana Hamiltons series, a continuing story arc is at the heart of the series. HONOR BOUND can be read as a standalone, even if some past events might be a bit hazy for a new reader to the series, especially when it comes to Buckmaster and his wife Sarah's relationship. In addition to the presidential race, another story runs concurrently, which also involves Ainsley. HONOR BOUND is just as riveting as the previous installments, and while a few events appear rather convenient, there is so much happening, that in the grand scheme of things they are mere trifles. While every character is drawn with care, I found undercover FBI agent Kitzie McCormick, one of Sawyer's former flames, the most compelling. I wonder if she will appear in future B.J. Daniels books, because she is unforgettable, and somewhat of an enigma.

Ms. Daniels' writing is irreproachable as usual, and it is uncanny how every character has its own voice. The descriptions of the Montana vistas are so vivid, that they truly do the gorgeous state justice; it's just like being there. There is much to be said about a great cowboy soap opera romantic suspense!

SUMMARY

Protecting her life will mean betraying her trust

Ainsley Hamilton has always been the responsible one of the family. As the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, she's also a potential target. For months she's sensed someone following her. When an expedition to scout locations for a commercial takes a terrifying turn, she's rescued by a natural-born cowboy who tempts the good girl to finally let loose.

Sawyer Nash knows just how reckless it is to fall for someone he's gone undercover to protect. Yet masquerading as an extra on set, he starts to see beneath Ainsley's controlled facade. And with the election—and a killer—drawing closer, Sawyer stands to lose not just his job and his life but the woman for whom he'd gladly risk both.
