TORN is Book 4 in Cynthia Eden's Lost
series. Cynthia Eden
combines a "friends-to-lovers" theme with a dangerous tale
of a psycho abducting women.
I love it!
Forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer and former homicide
detective
Wade Monroe have been friends and colleagues for years.
Having the two main characters become intimate after having
an established friendship, unlike the previous couples in
the series, adds an exciting undercurrent to TORN.
I love the different dynamic, from previous books, of
having lovers who work together and have a connection. This
connection makes trust almost a foregone conclusion. In
almost every other book in this series, the hero and heroine
are strangers who meet and experience a sudden and fiery
attraction. The unfamiliarity between those characters in
the previous books adds another layer of tension, because
the possibility that one of them could be the bad guy is
always there.
In TORN, Wade and Victoria both have secrets
and lies of omission, but they know who they are deep down
and they can count on each other when the bullets start
flying and things take a deadly turn. The chemistry between
Wade and Victoria is electric and makes for some scorching
moments of intimacy.
As with the previous books in the Lost series, part
of the story
is told from a killer's POV. The feeling of suspense is
always particularly gripping in a Cynthia Eden novel, but in
TORN I didn't know which way was up. Just when I thought I
knew who the killer was, and in which direction the story
was going, Cynthia Eden throws out some amazing surprises
for readers. Having two murder mysteries to solve -- a
missing girl from five years ago as well as a more recent
abduction -- makes for a fascinating puzzle as the reader and
main characters try to link the two events.
TORN is psychological thriller perfection, as well as a
superb sizzling romance. This series is a must-read for fans
of suspense and sensual romance. I liked the parallels
between Wade and Detective Dace Black, and look forward to
hopefully reading more about Dace in the future. This series
continues to provide great fast-paced storytelling with a
plethora of passion. I am hooked on this series and can't
wait for the next installment.
PARTNERS . . . FRIENDS . . .
Forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer has always been
better with the dead than the living. Shutting down her
emotions, she lets few people in. But then Victoria’s
latest investigation takes her and agent Wade Monroe to
Savannah, Georgia. Handsome, dangerous, and more than
ready to play dirty on any case, Wade weakens Victoria’s
aloofness with just one glance.
. . . LOVERS
Wade knows their recent cases have pushed Victoria beyond
her limits. But her skills are crucial to finding a
college student who went missing five years ago. Victoria
is able to determine she was murdered, and that the
killer is still on the loose.
And when the vicious murderer targets Victoria, Wade must
do everything in his power to protect her . . . because
he refuses to let a woman he loves be torn from him . . .
again.
