Will Repton, dubbed "Chinese Will", by the press, is the sole survivor of an attack by a band of Tibetan marauders, which killed four of his associates in Tibet. Working for the East India Company, Will worked for the East India Company and was a celebrated explorer and plant collector when the attack occurred. Fleeing to escape, Will fell and injured his leg and now walks with a limp.
He has returned to London as a hero, and he has plans for another China expedition, but needs funding. Arriving at the Mayfair residence of his long time friend, Bill Paxton, Will is incorrectly shown into the parlor of his sister-in- law, Charlotte Baker. It's Sunday and as usual, Charlotte is entertaining the eligible bachelors who are vying for her attention.
Charlotte is aware of Will's background, and he is more handsome than she dreamed. Will is the man of Charlotte's dreams, her soulmate, and the man she believes she is destined to marry. Will thinks she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and a charming chatterbox, but he is not familiar with the actions of women and doesn't have a clue as how to handle this one. Will Charlotte catch Will?
Susanne Lord, in her debut novel, tells a dazzling and heart-warming romantic story about Will and Charlotte, their family, friends, with an added dash of history. Their time together is charged with sexual energy. The banter between them is witty and I laughed often and long. Will is a delight! Things progress between them slowly but surely with delights pure and simple! IN SEARCH OF SCANDAL is a delightful book that I will cherish, think about, and long for another soon. I recommend IN SEARCH OF SCANDAL to everyone who loves to read about love. I absolutely love it! It is my cup of tea!
