SOME LIKE IT SCOT is Book 4 in Suzanne Enoch's Scandalous Highlanders series. Although it is part of a series, I believe SOME LIKE IT SCOT can still be enjoyed by readers new to the series. I like how SOME LIKE IT SCOT is told from two perspectives. Getting a peek at their inner thoughts helps to show how similar Bear and Cat are.
Munro "Bear" MacLawry and Catriona "Cat" MacColl are both underestimated by their families. I love how Suzanne Enoch creates two complex characters and have them gravitate toward each other. Everybody in Bear's clan thinks of him as the most rough and tumble MacLawry and a brawler rather than a thinker. Cat was raised by her late father to be the son he always wanted. Although she gained many skills that come in handy in Scotland's often rugged terrain, being unable to explore her feminine side made for some heartbreak and uncomfortable moments in her life. Both Cat and Bear have had to deal with some often unfair and unflattering characterizations that make them sympathetic characters to read about, and to want to get to know better.
I love the romance that develops between Bear and Cat. Their similarities help them bond and create a friendship as well as a fierce attraction. You'll fall for Bear after reading SOME LIKE IT SCOT. His sense of humor, protectiveness, and empathy when it comes to Catriona make him a marvelous hero. Cat is such a strong woman -- both emotionally and physically. This is the kind of heroine I would love to see more of in romances. The somewhat maternal relationship Cat has with her half- sister Elizabeth adds another fascinating layer to this engaging romance. The assumptions, well-meant interference, and complications caused by family keep things interesting and the story moving without taking the focus off the romance.
SOME LIKE IT SCOT is a sexy Highlands romance with strong characters and a riveting story. I adore this series, this family of Scots, and SOME LIKE IT SCOT does not disappoint. The intense connection between Bear and Cat pulls you in and makes you root for them. Suzanne Enoch does some great storytelling and creates a nice balance of humor, passion, and action. I look forward to the next book by Suzanne Enoch.
