Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead and
holding out against the dark that threatens him, with
honor. He has spent most of his life as a DARK GHOST but
longs for someone to see him. Things have changed even in
his dark world with the vampires banding together, making
it harder for the Carpathian warriors to defeat them alone.
Teagan Joanes is a geologist with psychic abilities. She
feels the power of the crystals she searches for and has
come to the Carpathian Mountains in search of one
particular crystal, one that will save her grandmother's
sanity. Little does she know that the "friend" she has
trusted to escort her is no friend and that she is going to
come across the one man in the whole world who will love
and understand her.
First of course, she has to help heal Andre, who has been
badly hurt by a vampire. Next she will have to believe the
strange tale he is telling her about those evil beings,
being a lifemate and then help him kill vampires. No
problem for a modern woman. Having brought the life and
light back into his world, Andre has a lot to learn about
modern women and she is more than capable of teaching him
what he needs to know.
DARK GHOST is another incredible, fast paced offering from
the Carpathian world of author Christine Feehan. In this
book, we are introduced to Andre and his sad but intriguing
past and Teagan, who is the living embodiment of a modern
woman with funny quirks and an outlook on life that is
endearing. A new twist to the Carpathians is a look into
Monks living in the monastery in the mountain, a group of
men struggling with the darkness bonded together to help
keep their honor. I hope this means more stories in the
future.
Ms. Feehan's men are old fashioned, protective, alpha males
but they are also smart enough to know that the women who
bring light and love to their lives need to be who they are
born to be. If you, as I have, read from the first
Carpathian novel (DARK PRINCE) you will see the growth and
acceptance these men have gone through (though some have
fought and continue fighting) to see their women as more
than someone who needs taken care of. I did feel that the
ending was rushed and abrupt, that of course could be
simply that I always hate to see one of Ms. Feehan's books
end. Simply put, if you love Ms. Feehan's Carpathian
warriors you will want to grab up DARK GHOST.
