Years earlier Special Agent Levi Lazaro rescues a teenager in the hands of evil and that job led him to a new world. That world is shattered when his wife is murdered. He can only think of revenge that has led him to SHATTERED DUTY. He now has the identities of those who destroyed his life and nothing will stop him from taking his vengeance.
Special Agent Selene Wolfe has taken pride in being the best, her fearlessness and quick thinking has made her the perfect person to take down a deadly terrorist cell. But she needs help ... Levi Lazaro's type of help. But the moment he shows up she knows her heart and objectivity are in danger.
With an uneasy alliance, Levi finds himself tormented. Not by what he has planned but by the totally unexpected desire he feels for Selene. He thought that part of him was dead and this brings him to a crossroads. He has a choice ... his revenge or saving the life of the woman who has awakened his soul.
SHATTERED DUTY is a superb, heart pounding, must read. This is another offering of author Katie Reus' Deadly Ops series and is just as fresh and alive as the first. The characters are both a bit on the screwed up side so of course they are perfect for each other. Levi is good man who is torn with the loss of his wife and desperate for vengeance despite his true conscious. Selene was recruited young and trained, there is little that she cannot do, but she has never been in love until now. The steamy quantity and quality is outstanding as are the twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. The action is plentiful but there is also the drama we get to watch as they try to work out a good plan all the while fighting their growing attraction for each other. Of course that is a losing battle or we romance readers would not get our much needed HEA ... of course the best is the surprise at the end that just melted my heart. If you are looking for a kick butt hero and heroine with a good mix of hot action of all kinds then Ms. Reus' SHATTERED DUTY is one of the must reads.
