Zane Nicholson is Fool's Gold's most eligible bachelor and a fifth generation cattle rancher. His half-brother Chase is seventeen and ready to split from Fool's Gold as soon as he graduates from high school. He's a computer genius and wants to head to MIT. When Zane receives a phone call about a cattle-drive vacation on his ranch, he confronts Chase and learns that Chase put a school project he designed on the Internet as a joke, never thinking about the consequences. Zane decides to go along with it, but he vows that Chase will learn a lesson from his antics. Zane then calls their step-sister in LA and asks her to come to Fool's Gold to help with the cattle-drive and Chase. Maya brings her best friend Phoebe Kitzke with her.
Phoebe has had a rough time lately with her job and needs a vacation. Maya thinks this trip to Fool's Gold is just what Phoebe needs. Maya has told Phoebe a lot about Zane, but Phoebe finds him much more attractive than words can express. Phoebe's attempts to talk to Zane are not too successful in her eyes, as Zane is not much of a talker. But when he suddenly kisses her one evening, Phoebe is smitten, and has lots of questions in her mind about what he thinks of her. Where will this cattle-drive vacation lead for Phoebe and all the rest who signed up?
KISS ME is a very unique Fool's Gold story. Susan Mallery takes us outside of this magical town to the Nicholson Ranch. No festivals, no catching up with the folks in town in this one. Mayor Marsha only makes a token appearance and isn't pulling any strings this time. There is an unusual cadre of characters, all of whom do a lot of self- examination while on the cattle-drive. Many are trying to find a place of belonging; they have a need to fit in.
KISS ME is a study of contrasting personalities, a story about forgiveness and learning to love. Will this cattle-drive be the catalyst for finding what they all need? Ms. Mallery takes a very different approach with this Fool's Gold story . . . KISS ME is one you do not want to miss!
