Romance Paranormal | Romance Historical

THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY is Book two in Isabel Cooper's Highland Dragon series. Although this book is part of a series and also the first book I've read by Isabel Cooper, I was still able to follow and enjoy the story. THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY takes place at the tail end of the Victorian era and Regina Talbot-Jones is a pragmatic and modern young woman. I like that, almost immediately, Regina and Colin are made aware of their unique qualities -- Regina's extrasensory perception and the fact that Colin is a dragon. There is enough going on in THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY without having to keep their special abilities secret from each other. The romance that develops between Reggie and Colin has some exquisite sexual tension and teasing that add sparks. I also really like how they treat each other with respect and that they genuinely like each other in addition to being physically attracted to each other. With THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY, Isabel Cooper creates a wonderfully spooky atmosphere. I feel as though I can almost see the ominous shadows and hear the ghost's fury as I read along. The very real danger presented by the ghost, as well as the seance and exorcism, lend a lot of excitement and thrills to THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY. I like the unusually subdued reactions by Reggie's family and the other non-magical people to all the magical and supernatural occurrences. I think that although some characters are frightened and shocked by the strange things that happen, but there isn't a feeling of hysteria or denial about what's going on. This unique approach in a paranormal historical is very refreshing. THE HIGHLAND DRAGON'S LADY has a captivating romance in the middle of a Good vs. Evil battle royale. The spooky ambiance and chills and thrills add dimension to an entertaining story. I look forward to reading more stories by Isabel Cooper.

SUMMARY

Regina Talbot-Jones has always known her rambling family home was haunted. She also knows her brother has invited one of his friends to attend an ill-conceived séance. She didn't count on that friend being so handsome...and she certainly didn't expect him to be a dragon. Scottish Highlander Colin MacAlasdair has hidden his true nature for his entire life, but the moment he sets eyes on Regina, he knows he has to have her. In his hundreds of years, he's never met a woman who could understand him so thoroughly...or touch him so deeply. Bound by their mutual loneliness, drawn by the fire awakening inside of them, Colin and Regina must work together to defeat a vengeful spirit-and discover whether their growing love is powerful enough to defy convention.
