Jaclyn Reynolds is dedicated to her job: a non-profit organisation to help underprivileged youths, and she doesn't go out much. She has a profile on the Miami Hot Singles website; she would like a man who is not too good-looking, but reliable; a nice guy. She stumbles on someone who might fit the bill, and emails him to invite him for a cup of coffee the following day. To her astonishment, she gets a reply right away.

Unbeknownst to Derek Wescott, his minions have signed him up to the same website as a joke. Derek has all the female company he craves: after all, he chose his physical appearance; simply put, he's perfectly gorgeous. He's also a very busy man: the Prince of Hell never wants for work, as the world teems with criminals and wrongdoers of all sorts, and whose lives he must destroy. He wants nothing to do with this dull mouse his minions have chosen for him, but they bet him he won't be able to seduce her; Derek has never lost a bet. Being a busy Devil, he doesn't need a nice girl, he wants a beauty who will not mess up his life. And yet when he meets Jaclyn, he senses there could be something more to her; she's definitely a challenge, and he's up to it.

The premise for ALL BETS ARE ON sounded intriguing, and I'm happy to say that it is much more than I ever hoped for! Ms. Cooke has written a most compelling and ingenious story replete with very funny dialogue as well as complex and fascinating characters. The world building is so ingenious that it never feels contrived; it all seems quite plausible, and given the basis for the story, no suspension of disbelief is required; it's quite a feat indeed!

Besides the paranormal angle, there is also an underlying mystery that makes perfect sense as it relates to the very foundation of Derek's existence. ALL BETS ARE ON is a remarkably quick read, a real page-turner, in part because of the scorching hot chemistry between the very appealing Derek and Jaclyn and also because of the author's decidedly unusual, original and very innovative spin on the Netherworld. ALL BETS ARE ON is a tremendously fun and entertaining book!
