Set in the West Indies, ENTICING MISS EUGENIE VILLARET is
a romantic story filled with passion, humor and suspense.
Will, Lord Wivenly and his friend Andrew Grayson set sail
to the West Indies to check on Will's late uncle's
shipping
business. Will's family has received word that the once
thriving company is failing. Andrew's family is in the
shipping trade and he is going to assist Will with sorting
through the situation.
Will and Andrew locate the shipping office and sneak in to
view the books at night. They surprise our heroines:
Cicely
Whitecliff and her friend Eugenie Villaret. Eugenie's late
stepfather owned the shipping business and Cicley and
Eugenie are looking for clues in the warehouse for
evidence
as to why the business is doing so poorly. Sparks fly at
this first meeting. It's love at first sight for Andrew
and
Cicley and its lust at first sight for Will as he
mistakenly thinks that Eugenie is a lonely widow. Eugenie
is attracted to Will but upset that he made advances
toward
her.
I loved how the author introduced the couples to each
other. Will jumps to conclusions about Eugenie. It's a
treat to see how the author redeems our hero and read how
their passion simmers throughout the novel . The love
stories of Andrew and Cicley and Will and Eugenie are
compared and contrasted through the novel.
I liked the descriptive language that Ella Quinn used
throughout the novel. I could feel the heat, smell the
flowers and watch the two couples fall in love. Some of
the
action took place on the water. Loved the sailing scenes
and the accuracy of the boating terminology.
Ella Quinn switches back and forth between several
storylines throughout the novel. Someone is behind the
misfortunes of the Wivenly family. A family member is
kidnapped, there is a pirate battle , a wedding with a
Pirate priest and a second kidnapping. ENTICING MISS
EUGENIE VILLARET is an intricately woven story with many
characters
and sub plots. The complexity kept me on my toes keeping
track of all of the characters and their relevance . Each
storyline was resolved by the end of this clever tale of
two couples.
Pick this book up if you enjoy a bit of intrigue and
action with your romance!
