The Martins and the Sweets have been enemies since before
the Civil War, when family members from both sides eloped,
which caused a feud that still resonates in the little town
of Salvation. The Martins are upright citizens, have always
been respected, whereas it's been an entirely different
thing for the Sweets. They have had criminal records,
they're from the wrong side of the tracks and have never
really tried to change the town's perception; they have
always been despised, shunned, and at best ignored by
everyone, and most of them don't care.
Miranda Sweet and Logan Martin were one-time lovers, until
Miranda unexpectedly left to study at university in Harbor
City. She is now a VP for DeBoer Finances, and has all but
left her old small-town life behind. Or so she thought. She
and her sisters inherited the Sweet Salvation Brewery. The
brewery is in dire straits after years of poor management,
and Miranda must salvage the business within 3 months if she
wants the promotion she knows she deserves. First she needs
funds to keep the business afloat.
Miranda is not exactly thrilled to be back in Salvation,
because nothing seems to have changed: a Sweet is still not
welcome. Things go from bad to worse when she realizes
that the only apparent option for obtaining funds lies with
Martin Bank and Trust, the only bank in town: the enemy.
Logan has never quite forgiven Miranda for leaving the way
she did, because in spite of the long-standing feud he had
feelings for her. Logan denies the loan; Martin Bank and
Trust wants to acquire the land where Sweet Salvation
Brewery stands, in order to build an industrial park.
Luckily, Miranda still has friends who are willing to help
her.
Miranda and Logan are still attracted to each other in
spite of the bitter business rivalry. Soon things get really
nasty; someone is out to get Miranda. Could it be that Logan
is trying to rekindle the old flame only to get his hands on
Sweet Salvation Brewery?
ENEMIES ON TAP A Sweet Salvation Brewery Novel is the
first book of Avery Flynn's new series, and once again she
delivers. Her writing is crisp and clean, her characters
genuine, and the plot moves along seamlessly. You can
always count on Ms. Flynn for spunky heroines, fallible
heroes, great dialogue and some funny repartee. Cheers, Ms.
Flynn!
Enemies
What’s a girl to do when the only person who can help her is
the man who betrayed her? After years away, Miranda returns
to Salvation, Virginia to save her family’s brewery, but her
fate is in the hands of her first lover turned enemy, Logan
Martin.
Lovers
Logan, Salvation’s de facto prince, can’t believe his luck
when the woman who smashed his heart to smithereens walks
into his bank asking for his help. What she doesn’t know is
he needs the land her brewery is on. When she tempts him
with a bet—if she wins, he gives her the loan; if he wins,
she forfeits the land—he knows it’s a sure thing.
An Irresistible Combination
But soon it’s a battle between their attraction for each
other and their determination to win, and it’s in each
other’s arms that they realize there might be more at stake
now than the bet. With the town dead set against the Sweet
Salvation Brewery’s success, Logan has to choose between
what’s expected of him and what he really wants—even if
helping Miranda means she’ll run out of his life once again.
