MERCY is a fantastic story of love undeterred by prior
treachery. Becca is a black ops CIA operative who is on
the run from whomever has been killing the rest of her
team. On the run without an identity or any funds, Becca
elects to go back to Jarrett for help, the man who she had
a torrid affair with 8 months ago. Jarrett is the
millionaire owner of Holton Woods, an exclusive members-
only supper club in Washington DC, where the true power
holders of DC met. Becca was part of a Spectrum operation
to arrest Jarrett for dealing drugs. Jarrett went to jail
briefly, but the charges were dropped and he resumed his
management of his club.
Jarrett is smoldering with anger toward Becca, who he
believed set him up for the sting, using her feminine wiles
to entrap him. Jarrett agrees to let Becca hide out from
his club while she tries to determine who is trying to kill
her and why. But that sanctuary comes at a cost:
"In return for protection, I get you. All of you,
however I want you."
Rebecca had claimed she belonged to him once before.
This time she would, but on his terms. She'd be his to
conquer. His to use and discard. His to fuck as he
pleased, without any regard for what she wanted or needed.
He didn't even care why she was really here. Her
reasons didn't matter because he would not cede any
emotional ground.
Jarrett tries to use sex to punish Becca for her prior
actions, but he still loves her, and has a difficult time
remaining emotionally distant. Becca fell in love with
Jarrett during the black-ops operation 8 months ago, and
was crushed by the apparent revelation that he was indeed
guilty.
Jarrett insists that he was framed by the CIA. Becca
believes that he was lying about his innocence. But both
Becca and Jarrett are keeping secrets from each other, and
the truth is not what either of them could imagine. I
enjoyed the roller coaster of the many exciting twists and
intrigues in this romantic suspense, and I feel the
supporting characters were particularly strong in MERCY.
The sexual tension in this story is off the charts,
and this erotic tale is packed full of sexy goodness. I
love how both Becca and Jarrett try to resist the other in
bed, but neither can overcome the overwhelming passion that
they have for each other. MERCY was my first HelenKay Dimon
book, but it definitely won't be my last!
After she infiltrated his business and betrayed his
trust, a disavowed CIA agent must seek sanctuary in the
bedroom of a man who will either help her, kill her, or
bring her to her knees…
Becca Ford is on
her own. Eight months after she headed up a sting operation
to take down millionaire club owner Jarrett Holt, the other
agents in her special ops team have been eliminated under
odd circumstances, and she needs a place to hide.
Jarrett is a man who prefers darkness to light.
He deals in the only truly valuable currency—information—and
his supper club caters to an exclusive clientele. It was an
uncharacteristic moment of weakness when he let a woman into
his life. But it’s not luck that the criminal charges
disappeared . . . as did the evidence.
When
Becca returns to the club seeking his help, Jarrett doesn’t
want to hear her story. But he does want her body, and
demands that she give it to him. He’ll keep her safe—for
now—but it’ll be in his bed and on his terms, until he says
they’re done.
