Romance Historical

Colin Pearce promises his best friend Nicholas that he'll keep an eye his fiancée, while Nicholas goes off to war. It's a promise he doesn't take lightly, and one that he has every intention of upholding. There's just one little problem. Colin loves Josie Cardworthy and being with her is torment when all he wants to do is hold her.

Josie can't wait for Nicholas's return, but in the meantime she's going to play matchmaker and find the perfect husband for her somewhat reluctant sister...and Colin is perfect. With a little help from a gypsy love potion, Josie is determined to see these two together. There's just one problem. She coming to realize that Colin might just be the perfect man for her.

MISCHIEF BY MOONLIGHT by Emily Greenwood is a delightfully fun historical romance. Author Emily Greenwood balances Colin and Josie's sense of duty and loyalty with a sweet romance that develops under difficult circumstances. Nicholas is never far from either of their minds. They truly do love him. Colin and Nicholas's friendship is true and it's wonderfully written. They are brothers in spirit if not in fact. Josie and her sister, Edwina, are a nice complement to each other, also. Josie is out-going and social, while Edwina cultivates a cool, disdainful personality. They watch out for each other and only want the best for their family. It is this sense of family duty and loyalty that pulls the threads of this story together, creating complex relationship patterns and true conflict.

My heart ached for these two lovers as they struggled to do what was right for themselves, for their families, and for those they loved, but let's not forget the fun! MISCHIEF BY MOONLIGHT delivers flirty banter, love potions with very humorous side effects, declarations of passion, and an intervention that is unbelievably inventive. Emily Greenwood gives her readers exactly what they want with MISCHIEF BY MOONLIGHT: sweet romance, real conflict, a little mischief, and the promise of more books in this charming series.
