THE BLACK SHEEP INHERITANCE by Maureen Child is part of her
Dynasties: The Lassiters series. Child makes it her
business to keep these larger than life characters as real
as possible imbibing them with flaws and emotions. Each
Lassiter novel stars another member of this powerful family
but part of Maureen Child's gift is keeping each one unique.
The burning question at the reading of his adopted father's
will was why is the old man's nurse there? Sure Colleen had
shown how professional she was in her care of J.D. but it
seemed as though the family had developed deep feeling for
her. Sage Lassiter was beginning to think Colleen belonged
more than he did.
Sage had maintained his distance -- lived his own life --
made
his own way. But that didn't prevent him from questioning
the provisions set by J.D.'s will. Sage was remembered in
the will and left property and money that J.D. knew he
didn't really need with his own ranch doing well. But these
things were left to remind Sage of his position as a member
of the Lassiter family. It was a reminder of love.
None of the siblings were happy with all the provisions and
once the shock wore off they were looking for someone to
blame.
For Sage -- Colleen topped his list. To Colleen's mind Sage
made it sound ugly -- dirty. Sage and Colleen had felt a
mutual attraction but this inheritance was going to turn any
sizzle and steam into ice in a flash.
Sage had the reputation of the black sheep billionaire. He
was fodder for the rumor mill -- he took it with a grain of
salt. It came with the territory. But Colleen was having a
difficult time coming to grips with what people would think
of her once the inheritance became common knowledge. Sage
kept finding excuses to see her -- enough to make a sane
woman crazy. Colleen's no idiot and clearly questions why
Sage is so intent on spending time with her.
For Sage -- Colleen was a threat. If he wasn't careful -- on
guard -- this amazing woman was going to breach the wall
around his heart. The one built to protect Sage from feeling
too deeply. Problem was that Sage was becoming protective of
the one person he needed to keep at arm's length. Colleen
knew all this attention was temporary -- she wasn't in his
league. But what harm could it be to enjoy this gorgeous
man's attention until he returns to his own life. Every
girls entitled to a bit of fantasy.
Maureen Child loves to allow her readers a look into adult
fantasy not like dream worlds but wishes coming true. She
has written about kings and princes and in THE BLACK SHEEP
INHERITANCE about ranchers. Child never disappoints her
readers with a story that can't help but make you smile.
Love knows no boundaries and that's the message of all
Maureen Child books. Looking for a good summer read then
look no further. THE BLACK SHEEP INHERITANCE is a feel good
story from a talented writer. Maureen Child is always on my
list of authors to look for.
SUMMARY
Follow the money…into bed! Estranged from his adoptive father, Sage Lassiter earned his
own billions. But when J.D. Lassiter leaves a fortune to his
private nurse in his will and cheats his own daughter of her
rightful inheritance…Sage is enraged, to say the least. He's
sure nurse Colleen Falkner isn't the innocent she appears.
And he's willing to go to any lengths to expose her…even
seduction. But using sex—crazed, incredible sex—to find out what she
knows could backfire. Because Colleen is not what Sage
expected. And like it or not, she's about to demolish all
the barriers he's carefully constructed around his heart.
