To anyone watching Navy SEAL Ian Dunn has gone rogue, turning his talents to the life of jewel heist and con jobs. But the truth is that the former special ops warrior is still fighting for good as he leads a small band of freelance operatives into high-stakes unofficial business. He is the perfect choice when a heavily guarded embassy must be breached to rescue children kidnapped by their father who is willing to turn them into casualties. At first he says no to this DO OR DIE situation.
Phoebe Kruger, his new attorney, is determined to see the children set free, so she makes it so no is not an option. And also whether he likes it or not she plans to go with him. She does have skills but it's the growing awareness between them they must fight as they gear up for a fight. As they face cold-blooded adversaries, a vindictive mob boss who has it in for Ian and a psychopath who loves to murder as much as he loves his money they find each other willing to do whatever must be done to survive and protect the innocent.
DO OR DIE is action packed multiple subplot suspense that will please any who love Suzanne Brockmann's SEAL books. Ian and Phoebe slowly meld together as the pages turn until the sizzle becomes more than they can ignore. Ms. Brockmann is a great storyteller but in this book I think she tried to tell just too many stories. There was almost too much going on that I had to reread a couple of pages just to make sure I knew what I had read. Don't get me wrong the action is great, the intensity will have you biting your nails and the sex ... steaming hot, I just felt that she needed to knock a few people out of the book so we could better know the main characters. This is the first of her Reluctant Hero series, so hopefully now that she has all the players in place the next one will not be quite so chaotic. I love her action packed writing style and will continue to read what she sets in print.
