There is no such thing as perfect in life or love. It just isn't a possibility. So we look for what suits and hopefully fills our hearts with joy. That's what LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY does. It is a heartbreakingly warm, witty, and wonderful story filled with dreams and hope.
That's all that's left - hope - when your world is earthshakingly unfair and filled with prejudice and fighting. Feuds may sound ridiculous in this day, but in reality there is still much that keeps people apart. In LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY, Lori Wilde courageously tackles a very difficult topic, and she does it with her usual aplomb. Wilde has carefully disguised this book with a message as a good old cowboy romance, and don't get me wrong, LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY is a wonderfully engaging cowboy and city girl love story.
The people of Cupid have lived for years with a feud hanging over their heads. Unbelievably these reasonably intelligent people let an old feud color their lives and mark their destiny. There was a line drawn in this town. No one would dare cross that line even though the reason for it certainly didn't exist any longer.
Truth be told most members of these two feuding families can't get their stories straight as to the reason behind this long feud. When faced with even the vague possibility of someone breaching that line, chaos and violence erupts. People have sustained injuries and worse have died as a result of this nonsense.
That's how Melody sees it. She made a new life for herself in NYC, but deep down in her heart home is in Cupid. Her family, friends, and if she is truly honest, her true love Luke are in Cupid. But you see Luke is a Nielsen, Melody is a Fant-Greenwood: the Hatfields and McCoys of Cupid.
The stars seem to align, sending Melody back to Cupid and even though they both fight it back to Luke. They can't help this attraction that has spanned years and miles. Neither one can afford to call it love, nor can they publicly acknowledge their continuing attraction for fear of causing another round of chaos or violence.
Luke is now mayor and sees it as his responsibility to keep a cap on the feud. Melody sees it quite differently. She thinks it's time to bring it to the forefront so that things can finally be resolved and people can move forward. It's either upset the apple cart or sweep it under the carpet, two very distinct and opposing philosophies.
This should be Melody and Luke's time. They're adults and really so much in love even if neither will actually say those three magic words. It's going to take a miracle or at the very least a giant leap of faith, trust, and bravery to make their dreams a reality. For now they are settling for stolen moments together, but at the end of the day, Luke will remain in Cupid and in all likelihood Melody will once again run away from her feelings. Love shouldn't be this difficult. All that is needed is a level head, and there must be some in Cupid that can fill that position.
Take time to delve into this lovely, modern day Romeo and Juliet tale intelligently woven by Lori Wilde. LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY is a very intriguing romance with enough angst to keep you at the edge of your seats and sighing with utter disbelief. There is nothing outlandish or impossible here. LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY could really happen anywhere or anytime. It involves prejudice. Feuds are just extreme outdated examples of prejudice spanning generations. We should be beyond all that, shouldn't we? I love LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY, and once again kudos to Lori Wilde.
Melody Spencer had long-ago
wiped the dust of Cupid, Texas, off her cute shoes . . . and
done her best to forget the chiseled jaw and strong arms of
cowboy Luke Spencer. Their families might be part of a
long-time feud, but he was her very first love, even if it
turned out they never wanted the same things.
But now
Luke's come striding back into her life, tempting her with
the memories of long, lazy evenings and hot, passionate
kisses. And he has an ulterior motiveโas Mayor of Cupid, he
knows Melody's business savvy can help save their beloved
hometown. His smooth talking might get her to Texas, but
that doesn't mean he'll get her in his bed. Still, people do
say love can be more perfect the second time around . . .
