Romance

Logan O'Donnell is torn apart every time he has to send his son Charlie back to Charlie's mom. Divorce is hard for everyone, but especially for children. Logan is also struggling with his own personal fulfillment though he has a very successful insurance business. He wants something more out of life, and that includes a wife and family. When an opportunity comes along to purchase the local ski resort, Logan sets the wheels in motion to make that become a reality. His dad does not approve of Logan taking such a risk.

Darcy Fitzgerald is a friend of Logan's sister, India. They've been friends since their college days. When India invites Darcy to join her family during the holidays, Darcy and Logan strike up a relationship of sorts. Darcy is still trying to recover from her own disastrous marriage and divorce and doesn't think she wants to put her heart back out there to be broken again. Can Logan and Darcy find any common ground? Will they work their way through old hurts and family expectations?

Susan Wiggs returns us to Avalon in the Catskill Mountains and Willow Lake for another magical romantic tale. This is a story about parents projecting expectations on their children as they are growing up and the influence parents still have on their adult children. Logan and Darcy are strong characters surrounded by an eclectic mix of supporting characters. Wiggs uses humor in much of the dialogue between Logan and Darcy to move their relationship along. Although the plot is fairly predictable, the journey of getting to the fairy tale ending is a real treat. And then there is the tradition of the Christmas Pickle -- another charming element in this whimsical story. Between most every chapter, some wonderful recipes are shared that are mentioned in the story. CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS in another great read in Ms. Wiggs' Lakeshore Chronicles series. This one is just as delightful as the rest. Don't miss it!

SUMMARY

A single father who yearns to be a family man, Logan O'Donnell is determined to create the perfect Christmas for his son, Charlie. The entire O'Donnell clan arrives to spend the holidays in Avalon, a postcard-pretty town on the shores of Willow Lake, a place for the family to reconnect and rediscover the special gifts of the season.

One of the guests is a newcomer to Willow Lake—Darcy Fitzgerald. Sharp-witted, independent and intent on guarding her heart, she's the last person Logan can see himself falling for. And Darcy is convinced that a relationship is the last thing she needs this Christmas.

Yet between the snowy silence of the winter woods, and toasty moments by a crackling fire, their two lonely hearts collide. The magic of the season brings them each a gift neither ever expected—a love to last a lifetime.

Re: "Another magical tale from Avalon at Willow Lake and the Catskill Mountains"

I would absolutely love to win this book. I am still reading The Apple Orchard as I have had some injuries that aren't getting better, and not able to get too much read each day. Physical Therapy is helping a tiny bit, so would love to have another of your books to look forward to for the long nights. Thank you so much.
