Felicia Swift lives in the California town of Fool's Gold
and her giftedness sometimes makes her conversation
awkward, but others can find her refreshingly honest.
THe town event planner is expecting again and Mayor Marsha
asks Felicia to assume
the task of organising town festivals. Such an organised
girl will bring a very logical viewpoint and follow up on
details. But Felicia really isn't sure if she can make a
success of such a venture. She gets an opinion from the
radio station owner and DJ, Gideon Boylan, and the
attraction that she first felt with him four years
previously boils over into lovemaking. Felicia's twenty-
eight, she thinks it's time to have a boyfriend. Other men
in town though, feel Gideon, with his military background
and PTSD, may not be a good choice.
TWO OF A KIND are hard to find! Felicia, a lovely girl who
is now a barista, has buried herself in studies and work
for years, and when she's handed the festival starts
planning databases instead of paper files. Most months have
one or two festivals which bring the town tourist income,
and the town has some supplier contracts running annually
and others ad hoc. Lifting power is required, and she
knows just the team - her friends in the bodyguard firm.
Felicia is well able to take care of herself physically,
but what about her heart?
I felt that the character of Felicia owed a lot to Amy
from The Big Bang Theory and not all gifted girls would
be so socially awkward at her age. Gifted girls are far
better chameleons than gifted boys. But it's fun keeping up
with her as she delivers a lecture about the trees or crowd
dynamics instead of just making conversation. The kind
inhabitants of Fool's Gold value Felicia and don't want to
see her harmed. She's a proficient organiser, but some
people would rather things the way they were, like the
tarot reader who wants her booth back in its old location.
Anyone who has done some convention organising will agree
that it's a complex job and it's hard to please everyone.
Eventually Felicia has learned that she's not perfect, just
human, and Gideon has been obliged to take on personal
responsibilities whether he wants them or not.
TWO OF A KIND will definitely be enjoyed by all those who
follow Susan Mallery, but can be read as a standalone if
you're new to Fool's Gold. You'll come visiting the town
again.
New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery welcomes
readers back to Fool's Gold, where a onetime fling could
become the real thing.
Felicia Swift never dreamed she'd hear a deep, sexy voice
from her past in tiny Fool's Gold, California. The last time
Gideon Boylan whispered in her ear was half a world
away on
the morning after the hottest night of her life. Her freaky
smarts have limited her close friendships, and romance, but
she came to Fool's Gold looking for ordinary. Gorgeous,
brooding Gideon is anything but that.
Black Ops taught Gideon that love could be deadly. Now he
pretends to fit in while keeping everyone at arm's length.
Felicia wants more than he can give—a home, family, love—but
she has a lot to learn about men and Gideon needs to be
the
man to teach her.
As these two misfits discover that passion isn't the only
thing they have in common, they just might figure out that
two of a kind should never be split apart.
