Fifty years ago Jeannie Williams was heading for Hollywood, she wanted to be the next Marilyn Monroe or Jayne Mansfield, but a number of disasters had her stranded in Las Vegas and at the Arcane Royale Casino. The Overseers of the casino decided that a punishment of 150 years and the loss of her soul for a 5 cent theft was appropriate. So for all these years she has been Pandora of the Midnight Mystery Lounge dancing INTO THE SPOTLIGHT.
Malcolm Reynolds an over 600 year old vampire is the go- to guy for the Reynolds family. Most recently he has been the family attorney. He came to the casino because of his cousin Frederick's debt and detainment. But when he catches sight of a golden skinned showgirl his attention is decidedly split. His spoiled rotten cousin or a beautiful woman who has him feeling a fire he hasn't felt before ... which will win his complete attention?
As Malcolm gets to know the woman who is an unbelievable mixture of seduction and innocence his heart gets more deeply involved. Even as he straightens out the mess his cousin had gotten himself into, he thinks more and more of Jeannie, never Pandora in his mind. When she tells him how she got to be where she is he is determined to do something about her punishment. When a solution is offered he accepts and with the love and trust that has developed between them how could they lose?
INTO THE SPOTLIGHT is a riveting new look into the world of vampires, nymphs and fate. The characters of Jeannie and Malcolm are perfect for each other and they definitely do burn up the pages when they are together. Author Heather Long has written a diverse look into the paranormal world that is a nonstop read. My only complaint would be that it is way too short and I hope the next Soul Girls books are full size.
