Two years ago Special Agent Kathleen Martinez was working on a white slavery case. A case that had been stalled by the tap dancing of the corporate lawyers for the Ivanov family and their refusal to allow the police to search a warehouse. Finally getting the warrant the team storms the warehouse and rescues the women held captive there, all except one. She died while the lawyers played their games. Though she knew the death was on the bad guys but a part of her always wondered about what the Ivanov's had been trying to hide.
Prince Alexander Ivanov owns a Casino on the boardwalk and two things have come to his attention. One is their chief hostess for the Winter Palace, the upscale restaurant in the Russian-themed casino is missing and the possibility that someone is attempting to launder money using his chips and facilities. This leaves him no choice but to call in the authorities. THE PRINCE'S GAMBLE will be a bigger one than he ever imagined ... not only are both his family and the casino's reputation at stake but very soon his heart will follow.
Kathleen goes undercover, still not sure if the Prince is what he seems or involved in the Russian Mafia or white slavery. Her heart is very quick to tell her the handsome devil is at least innocent of that wrongdoing, but she can't seem to keep it in her mind that he is basically only a client. So why can't she look at him and think pure thoughts?
THE PRINCE'S GAMBLE is fast paced, full of action, romance and suspense as the Prince and the F.B.I. Agent take on the money launderers and white slavers. I liked how Alexander and Kathleen tried to dance around each other until they were exhausted and gave in. There were a number of secondary characters that added a lot to the storyline and even gave a hint to more possible stories to come along this line. I believe other readers will find this an "I can't put this down" book as many of the author's [Caridad Pineiro] books are for me.
Prince Alexander Ivanov is scrambling to save his reputation
and his livelihood. One of the Russian Nights Casino's
hostesses has disappeared, and his business is suddenly
under investigation by the FBI for associations with the mob
and money laundering.
Special Agent Kathleen Martinez has no patience with rich,
entitled aristocrats, especially one like Alexander Ivanov
whom she believes is involved in the vicious human
trafficking ring which she'd triedβand failedβto shut down
two years earlier. With a second chance to bring him to
justice, she goes undercover in the casino, but instead of
facing the villain she expected, she finds herself battling
a sizzling attraction to the man.
Now, forced to work together to trace the source of the
illegal activities, the dangerβand the passion between
themβgrows out of control, and they slowly begin to realize
the biggest danger isnβt to the casino, itβs to their
livesβ¦and to their hearts.
