Librarian Charlie Harris and his beloved Maine Coon cat
Diesel have snagged a prime cataloging job, working with a
private collection of rare books owned by James Delacorte,
a local eccentric and elderly gentleman. Unfortunately, the
assignment comes with having to deal with Delacorte and his
nutty, possibly homicidal, family.
And just as Charlie is about to dive into the new job, his
son, Sean arrives to stay with him for a while. Sean has
quit his job in a law firm, and has brought all his
baggage, physical and psychological, with him. And he has
brought his little dog, Dante, along as well -- a
development that Diesel is not too keen on. But father and
son, and animals, soon settle in, and Charlie gets on with
his work.
But when James Delacorte turns up dead in his private
library, Charlie finds himself turning to his son for
assistance in sorting out who killed the old curmudgeon and
why they want the Harris' out of the picture as well.
CLASSIFIED AS MURDER is the second installment of Miranda
James' A Cat In The Stacks Mystery series, and it
continues the story of the gentle and loveable librarian
Charlie Harris and his faithful companion Diesel. Unusual
for having a male main character, this series is fast paced
and lively enough for any cozy mystery fan to enjoy, with
all the usual twists and turns that a good, intriguing
story needs.
Aging eccentric James Delacorte asks Charlie the librarian
to do an inventory of his rare book collection-but the job
goes from tedious to terrifying when James turns up dead.
Relying on his cat Diesel to paw around for clues, Charlie
has to catch the killer before another victim checks out.
