You've got to love a feisty heroine, and they don't come
any feistier than Suzanne Arruda's photojournalist, Jade del
Cameron. Strong willed and intelligent, Jade's sleuthing
skills, as well as her survival skills, are admirable. In
THE CROCODILE'S LAST EMBRACE, the latest book in the Jade
Del Cameron Mystery series, the intrepid Jade once again
faces mystery and danger in the wilds of 1920s Africa.
After spending the holidays in Europe, Jade returns to
Kenya with the full awareness that Africa is where she
feels most at home. She desperately misses her sweetheart,
Sam Featherstone, and looks forward to his return. In
the meantime, Jade occupies herself with her friends and
acquaintances. When a mysterious letter arrives, Jade's
hopes rise that it is from Sam, but she is soon shaken to
read a mysterious message from David Worthy, her long-
deceased fiancé. It simply reads "Why did you let me die?"
As Jade tries to find out who has sent this macabre letter,
she soon learns that her nemesis, Lilith Worthy (David's ex-
wife) has escaped from prison with her mind set on revenge
and her eye focused on Jade. Meanwhile, after witnessing a
horrific car accident that involves a dispute over a
northern gold mine, Jade is drawn into investigating if the
deaths of the two men, one by crocodile, are somehow
connected to the mine dispute.
Suzanne Arruda provides her readers with plenty of
excitement and action with her lively mysteries, with just
a touch of romance to soften the rough edges! With a
charming old-fashioned "pulp fiction" adventure feel to the
storytelling, the sixth book in the series, THE CROCODILE'S
LAST EMBRACE, is by far the most intriguing and fast-paced
and readers are sure to be well-satisfied with the
progress in the Jade/Sam romance department.
After a brief sojourn in Europe, intrepid explorer Jade del Cameron returns to Kenya with bittersweet memories-- as well as the certainty that Africa is her home and Sam Featherstone is the man she wants to share her life. But soon she is haunted not only by the past but by a very present danger... When a letter arrives from France, Jade hopes it is Sam sending word of his return. Instead it is a message written in the hand of her long-dead fiance asking, "Why did you let me die? Who would play such a cruel prank on her? She sets aside these preoccupations when she witnesses a car go over the side of a bridge. At first Jade suspects the driver was killed for his share in a northern gold mine, but soon a second man dies, his body prey to a man-eating crocodile. Are the murders part of a larger, more sinister scheme? When Jade discovers that her old nemesis Lilith Worth has escaped from prison, the mysterious deaths--and the threatening letters--begin to form the most dangerous case Jade has ever faced, pitting her against a ferocious crocodile and an even more deadly and devious adversary, who is all too human.
