Mystery Amateur Sleuth | Romance Suspense
Welcome to Mojo, Louisiana. Home of the many interesting
characters created by Stephanie Bond for her newest title IN
DEEP VOODOO.
IN DEEP VOODOO blends Ms. Bond's unique sense of humor with
a touch of romantic suspense making for a truly delightful
read. Penny Francisco is newly divorced from a favorite son of the
town, Deke Black. She is experiencing the anger and pain
that any woman who is thrown over for another might be
expected to be feeling. How far will her anger carry her is
the true question, and one that can only be answered by
continuing to read. Deke Black was raised in a family of position in the town.
His mother Mona is the town Mayor, and his father was a
prominent attorney. The Blacks think that they own the
town, and that others should bend to their will. Will this
feeling of superiority in the end be their downfall? Again,
you're going to have to read to find out. Mojo is also full of other interesting characters. Every
year there is a large Voodoo Festival, and people gather
from all other to participate in various rituals. It is
during the beginning of the festival that Penny's friends
have decided she needs a party to celebrate her divorce.
The party is to be held at a local bar complete with gag gifts. Penny, a total health nut, rarely puts anything impure into
her body. However, the night of the party she does drink,
and gets carried away with the fun and excitement swirling
around her. When she opens the gifts she is shocked to find
a voodoo doll who is supposed to represent her husband.
With some urging from her friends she does stick it to the
doll. What is considered to be innocent fun soon has horrid
consequences for Penny. There are so many mysteries
surrounding Mojo, will they all ever be solved? If they are
who will solve them? The police department, or Penny and
the mystery man who is in Mojo? Ms. Bond's characters have appeal and are written with
qualities that make readers love to hate the villains, and
root for the good guys without thinking twice. For readers
who hate to see IN DEEP VOODOO end there is good news.
There will be a sequel in 2006.
SUMMARY
Start With Bad Mojo ...
There's something strange afoot in the small town of Mojo,
Louisiana. Yet even as the annual voodoo festival gets
underway, Penny Francisco, who runs a health food business,
refuses to believe in black magic. Her mind is on
celebrating her divorce from her lying, cheating husband
Deke. Add a Pinprick of Revenge ...
Fueled by run-ins with her ex-mother-in-law and Deke's
busty mistress, Penny is eager for the "emancipation party"
her friends plan. When she receives a Deke voodoo doll as a
gag gift, she sticks it with a pin as a joke. But when Deke
winds up fatally stabbed, the police aren't laughing. And Watch Things Boil Over ...
A junk-food junkie P.I. offers his services, and although
Penny is wary of the sexy Cajun's motives (and his diet),
she's desperate. Dodging a media sideshow and a looming
murder rap, Penny realizes that somehow she's landed
herself In Deep Voodoo.
