When leather-clad Marlowe Jones and her partner, Gibson the
dust bunny, ride up on her motorcycle for a surreptitious
meeting, Adam Winters knows enough to be on his guard. Their
families have a centuries-old feud. Although he is willing
to let bygones be bygones, he is not so sure she
agrees.
Jones and Jones is still a viable, if lethargic, psychic
detective agency in Harmony, and one of the public faces of
Arcane. Marlow Jones has recently taken over as head of the
agency and is trying to find her footing. Her dream-light
reading skills are not much like the chaos-theory talents of
her predecessors. So, having the Burning Lamp stolen on her
watch is not a good way to start her new career. Adam
Winter's Guild connections may be the key to retrieving it,
if she can just get past her hormones and see him as a
business associate.
Adam Winters, former member of the secretive Bureau has
recently been made head of the Ghost Hunter Guild. He needs
Marlowe and the Burning Lamp more than she can imagine. He
is losing his sanity; turning into a Cerberus, a
multi-talent rogue who must be hunted down and exterminated.
Her dream-light gifts and the lamp are the only hope of
survival, for him and for Harmony.
Marlowe has given up on marriage. Her talent makes sleeping
near another impossible, or so she thought until she met
Adam. He knows she is the woman for him the first moment he
sees her, he just needs the patience to wait for her to see
their passion as more than physical.
MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL weaves together three of the author's
paranormal worlds-- those written under the names Amanda
Quick, Jane Ann Krentz and Jayne Castle. It is the third in
the Dreamlight Trilogy, and does a fairly good job of
summing up the story arc. It is always lovely to visit
Harmony again. The plot has plenty of excitement, danger and
hot steamy sex to go around.
For many earthly centuries, a legendary curse has plagued the Winters family, stemming from the tumultuous founding of the Arcane Society. But now, on the futuristic world of Harmony, the curse's final mystery will be unraveled...
Head of the ghost hunters guild Adam Winters and dreamlight reader extraordinaire Marlowe Jones must break the curse, save Harmony's entire underworld-and fight a passion that could destroy them both.
