Sabine Tobias is charged with keeping the secrets of her
race, and finding a defense to the doom that approached
them. The lost prophecy of Atlantis lies concealed in a map
held by an Englishman and she is determined to get her hands
on it, no matter the price. Those closest to her are in
danger from the legendary Chosen One. He has already started
his path toward the heart of Atlantean power, killing off
those surrounding the queen and readying the world for his
triumphant rule.
Maxwell Barrett has been seeking proof of Atlantis most of
his life. The map he found as a teen spurred him onward, to
learn all the secrets he could wring out of dusty tomes and
oft-told stories.
He fills his days with the search, but there is plenty of
time in the evenings to pursue lighter pleasures. On an
evening spent with cards in a gambling hell, he finds
himself intrigued and aroused by a mysterious woman who
offers an interesting stake in the game.
Racing against time, Sabine calls on Maxwell's gift for
adventure to help her solve the ancient puzzle of the dove,
fated to save her people. He is more than willing to
follow where she leads, waiting for the moment to get her
into his bed, and to find the proofs of Atlantis he has been
seeking most of his life. As if the murdering Chosen One
weren't enough, a former lover of Maxwell's is also hot on
their trail, willing to stop at nothing to get her hands on
the fabled Fountain of Youth, said to belong to the
Guardians of Atlantis.
When pondering what part of DESIRE ME is my favorite, I have
a bit of a quandary.
Is it the prologue, where a young Maxwell races time and
tide to acquire the map of fabled Atlantis?
The hot and sweaty scene when Sabine and Maxwell are trapped
in a dressing room at a 'party for lovers' while stealing
the sword of Alexander the Great?
Or is it the hilarious scenes with Sabine's Aunts, like the
one quoted here:
"He's the one with the map, " Lydia said, her arms crossed
over her chest...
"Yes," Sabine said...
"Younger and more handsome than I had thought, " Agnes said
"Indeed." Lydia nodded, her lips pursed.
Calliope nodded enthusiastically.
"I hadn't noticed," Sabine said.
"And I suppose you didn't notice how firm his body looked,"
Agnes said.
"Agnes, truly!" Lydia chided.
"What?" Agnes tossed her arms up. "I'm old, not blind."
It's all of these, and more; as if all the favorite elements
of the volumes on my 'keepers' shelf had been distilled into
one book. DESIRE ME is the second in The Legend Hunters
series, following last year's "Seduce Me".
The Men of
Solomon's meet in secret, their very existence only a rumor
among the best of Victorian society. They are treasure
hunters, men of wealth and title, seekers of myths and
legends. And no legend is as mystifying as the lost city of
Atlantis . . .
DESIRE ME
Years
ago, Maxwell Barrett found a map to Atlantis and dedicated
his life to the search for the mystical lost continent. But
when an alluring woman makes a wager for the priceless
artifact, he may have discovered an even greater
treasure.
A descendant of Atlantis, Sabine Tobias
needs the map to decipher an ancient prophecy. What she
doesn't need are the sparks flying between her and Max. He's
too devilishly charming to be trusted: The fate of her
people is at stake as well as her heart. Yet a ruthless
killer also covets the map. Now Max and Sabine must race to
decode the prophecy's riddle before this criminal fulfills
his deadly mission.
