I love a good Farmer's Market. There is just something
magical about wandering through the stands of fresh
veggies, gorgeous herbs and flowers, and at times, unique
artwork.
So I was thrilled to find FARM FRESH MURDER: A Farmer's
Market Mystery by Paige Shelton. The first in Shelton's
charming series, readers will be introduced to Becca
Robins, a young gal who is a whiz at making jellies and
jams to sell at the Bailey Farmer's Market, the best
Farmer's Market around, or so Becca thinks. Of course she
could be prejudiced, after all her twin sister Allison
manages the market.
When Matt Simonsen, a fellow vendor who sold peaches, is
killed, and the clues point to Abner Justen, the cranky
flower seller, as the prime suspect, Becca jumps in to find
out who killed the peach farmer, and why her buddy was
being framed for his murder -- before her sister's Farmer's
Market loses all its business.
With the help of Ian Cartwright, the handsome new artist
who has a booth at the market, Becca sets out to find clues
that will vindicate Abner, but the two soon discover there
are secrets galore being kept among the local farm
community that will potentially shock everyone when the
investigation is finally over. But will Becca's efforts be
enough to save her old friend?
Set in South Carolina, FARM FRESH MURDER is a breath of
summer freshness that is an absolute delight to read and
savor. Shelton's imaginative story takes her readers into
the heart of the South where the sweet smell of peaches and
good ole home cooking seem to waft from the pages of this
fantastic book. Add in the yummy recipes for Strawberry Jam
and Lemon Meringue Pie, and the canning and preserving
tips, and you have a feast of a mystery to enjoy.
Becca Robins leads a simple life, making jams and preserves
on her very own farm. But when there's a murder in her
quaint little town, she puts herself in the line of fire to
defend her friend's innocence-and goes from making jam to
being in one.
