Win and Kev had history together and an almost unbearable
passion for the other. Saving him from a certain death,
the Hathaway family had taken in the young, badly beaten
gypsy lad and raised Kev Merripen as one of their own.
Yet, from his perspective and internal rage, this young
Rom felt he had nothing in common with this modestly
wealthy and eccentric English family. Clutching to his
torn pride and identity as a Rom, Kev insists on rejecting
the English life. Yet, despite all his efforts at
rejection, he can't get Win out of his blood that burns
with fervor for her.
Always protective of Win, Kev saves Win's life from
Scarlet Fever almost by sheer will power and some Romany
medical knowledge. Yet, despite his best efforts, the
illness left her a wisp of her former self and an invalid.
When Win, who longed for children and the joys of everyday
life, heard of a doctor's famous clinic in France, she
left with her brother Leo, to seek treatment.
Three years later, a healthy Win returns to England and
brings the elegant Dr. Julian Harrow with her. She knows
Julian desires her, but yearns for Kev's all encompassing
primality and hungry passion. Constantly faced with Kev's
cold and hateful rejection of her, was Kev really worth the
effort?
Kev had suffered greatly at the unspeakably cruelty of his
uncle and the scars of his past loomed like insurmountable
barriers that blocked him from Win. Could he overcome
these barriers or would he leave Win to the fate that Dr.
Harrow had planned for her?
Lisa Kleypas has penned a tender and heart touching romance
that focuses on the turbulent relationship between Win and
Kev. Their story is skillfully developed in a strong
storyline that links in relationships and issues with the
rest of the Hathaways. My only reservation about this book
is that the ending is almost a little too sweet and
complete. Yet that being said, there were enough delicate,
tantalizing wisps of a new storyline that makes you long
for a follow-up to find out what happens to Leo and the
prim woman who captures his eye. An intriguing story on its
own, Kleypas' fans will definitely love to get their hands
on this sequel to Mine Till Midnight. Enjoy!
