The demon Rule is not having a good day. He's lost a fiend.
A minor fiend, to be sure, but a fiend all the same, and
the Council of Others is not amused. In fact, it's been
strongly suggested that Rule collect his missing fiend from
the world above before a bad situation becomes something
much worse. So, in a mood most foul, Rule sets out for the
human world to capture the imp and bring him home.
The human world has been in turmoil since the Others
announced their presence. Yes, Virginia, vampires,
werewolves, demons, witches and fairies are not only real,
but have been living among us for years. And now they want
their civil rights. Rioting has broken out in every major
city and in Manhattan mobs of protestors have taken to the
streets. The city's population is angry and afraid. A
dangerous combination for humans and Others alike.
Abby Baker finds herself right in the middle of an angry
mob. Trying hard to extract herself from trouble, Abby is
crouched down, hiding, invisible to all except the
hitchhiking fiend, who chooses Abby as its next host when
the time comes for it to change bodies.
Rule's day has gotten worse. He's finally located his
fiend, who goes by the name of Lou, inside a human woman.
And Lou is in no hurry to come out. A major archfiend is
after him because he has knowledge of a spell that will
shift the balance of good and evil in evil's favor. Rule's
priority is to protect Abby until Lou can be safely
extracted. He already had enough problems before Abby was
thrown into the mix. But now...now all he can think about is
Abby. And most of what he's thinking is completely
inappropriate.
Abby is horrified at her situation. Good Catholic girl that
she is, a demon inside of her is intolerable. Although
she's been assured that Lou is no danger to her immortal
soul, she has her doubts. She has her doubts about Rule, as
well. The 6'4" Hunter is way too sexy for what she thinks a
demon should be. And shouldn't he be a little more evil if
he's a demon? It looks like the humans have a lot to learn
about the Others, and Abby is about to get a hands-on
course.
THE DEMON YOU KNOW, the third book in the Others series,
like its predecessors, is a lot of fun. Returning
characters and a strong sense of humor add dimension to the
story. Well-paced and well-told, this series is a winner.
As a research grunt at a local television station, Abby
Baker tends to blend into the background, which is where
she’s most comfortable. But when she ends up being the last
resort to cover a hot story, Abby discovers a whole new
side to her personality when she is possessed by a fiend—a
type of rogue demon. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of
her. And now the demon Rule—also a hunter of his own kind
who have gone astray—is Abby’s only hope…
Meanwhile, the Others—vampires, werewolves, and witches, oh
my!—have come out of the supernatural closet and the rest
of the humans are all aflutter. Mischief is afoot in the
demon realm, and Rule knows that Abby is key to figuring it
all out before the fiends tip the fragile balance between
the newly-discovered Others and the humans over into an
epic battle. Now it’s up to two lost souls to make love,
not war…..
