Thriller Police Procedural

On the dark streets of New York City, four women have been brutally murdered. The police know they're tracking a serial killer, since all four women died the same grisly way -- a gunshot through the right eye. Disgraced NYPD Detective Dave Dillon is in a race against time to find the cold, calculating culprit, dubbed the Ladykiller, before there's another victim. This is Dave's last chance to redeem himself -- his job is on the line.

The investigation turns up a possible link involving the West Side Crisis Center hotline, where Dave meets several probable suspects, as well as Megan, to whom he's strongly attracted. When one of the hotline employees turns up murdered by the same type of gunshot wound, Dave is perplexed -- this time the victim is a man! Now Dave is sure he's right about a connection to the crisis hotline, if he can just get his superiors to agree. The case grows even more complicated, and personal, as Dave's new romance with Megan turns serious.

From early on, readers are privy to the killer's dark thoughts, devious actions and identity. We're also taken through the complex, tension-filled police investigation, as we anticipate the outcome. Just when we're sure we know the ending, a plot twist is thrown in that's both shocking and unexpected. I love a book that immerses me deeply in the storyline and then surprises me at the end -- and this one did both! Husband and wife Lawrence Light and Meredith Anthony make an excellent writing team. This compelling crime novel is a first-rate reading experience.

SUMMARY

In the city that never sleeps, evil is wide awake. From the bright lights of Times Square to the dark alleys of New York, the Ladykiller is at work and at prey. Four women savagely murdered on the mean streets of NYC. The Ladykiller leaves no trail, no clues. The pressure is on for NYPD detective Dave Dillon - either he solves the crime or he can kiss his job goodbye.

When Dave joins forces with Megan Morrison, a beautiful young social worker, the search for a cold-hearted killer leads to a hot romance. But a host of forces threaten to intrude. Megan's jealous mentor would delight in derailing the romance, as would Jamie, a determined detective with her own not-so-hidden agenda. And Dave's shadowy past is never far behind. The clock is ticking for Dave and Megan. Will they close in on the shocking truth behind the crimes, or will it close in on them? In the world of the Ladykiller, passion can turn deadly in a New York minute.
