Kate Connor has put her demon-hunting life behind her and
settled into the soccer mom world. She totes kids around to
pep squad practice and play dates. With a two-year-old and
a 14-year-old, she frankly doesn't have time to be chasing
any demons.
Of course, when one wanders into the grocery store, there
really isn't an option. She can't have her kids hanging out
with the local demon. Besides, she was supposed to be in a
safe place where demons, zombies and otherworldly creatures
wouldn't bother her family. She already lost her husband --
also a demon-hunter -- to that world, and she refuses to
endanger anyone else she loves.
But this time, demon-hunting will be necessary to protect
her family because the demons are finding her. As Kate
tries desperately to protect her loved ones and find out
what's going on in the world she thought she left behind,
things get crazy. Supernatural crazy. Psychotic crazy.
You're gonna love this book! It's a terrific summer read
with lots of humor, crazy situations and action. Kate's got
to conquer the demons without letting her new husband,
Stuart, know what's going on. Oh, and don't forget the
fulltime job of protecting the kids and making sure they
aren't demon fodder. She's losing sleep, going crazy and
generally a little dissatisfied with the way her life is
shaping up. So much for retirement. Told in first person,
Kate's dry humor is a dominant force in this fun book.
Lots of women put their careers aside once the kids come
along. Kate Connor, for instance, hasn't hunted a demon in
ages.
That must be why she missed the one wandering through the
pet food aisle of the San Diablo Wal-Mart. Unfortunately,
he managed to catch her attention an hour later-when he
crashed into the Connor house, intent on killing her.
Now Kate has to clean up the mess in her kitchen, dispose
of a dead demon, and pull together a dinner party that will
get her husband elected to County Attorney-all without
arousing her family's suspicion. Worse yet, it seems the
dead demon didn't come alone...
