Re: Blown Away (10:52am May 30, 2010):

Most of the time, I read them as they are coming out. If I have one book and notice that let's say it is number three in the trilogy, I will order the other ones. I also on the cover of the book put in the sequence number, and if it is a particular series from that same author, I will put underneath the number the particular name or initial of the series. I have recently ordered series by Lisa Kleypas, Toni Blake, Julia London, Linda Lael Miller, Barbara Freethy, Victoria Thompson, Adriana Trigiani, Shirlee Busbee, Sherryl Woods, Tracy Anne Warren, Mary Balogh, Thomas Kinkade, Stef Ann Holm, amongst others. I personally love trilogies and usually very eager to read the next one on the list. I do keep track of what the story is about so I can refer to it when the second book comes out.

Re: Live To Tell (3:19pm May 9, 2010):

Sandi, if there were interesting authors in my area, I would definitely cancel whatever I am doing and go to the signing! To me, that's a rare opportunity.

Re: Down By The River (11:55am January 31, 2010):

On one of my yahoo groups, I got to know some good cozy mystery authors. Haven't read them in quite a while. I read I Scream, You Scream by Wendy Lyn Watson and Murder Can Be Binding by Lorna Barrett. I highly recommend both books. It's a good change of pace from what I usually read, from contemporary romance, to romance westerns (Linda Lael Miller) to historicals like Kathleen Woodiwiss and Victoria Holt. As usual, I have a lot of books I haven't even touched yet -- I just keep buying. I go to Walmart and I am lost -- it's like - I just have to pick up a book and yesterday I walked out with about four!

Re: Down By The River (12:28pm January 24, 2010):

I love reading series and really enjoy them. Debbie Macomber has had quite a few and I have read them all. Also series by Linda Lael Miller and Robyn Carr. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with the order of the books in each series, but I do try and sometimes have to write them down. It would be easier to purchase all of them in order but sometimes that is not possibly and some are out of print. I have wrote down the titles and purchased them at used book stores online. I do prefer to read them in order, but sometimes you pick up a book that hits you and then later on you discover it is part of a series. As usual, Sandi you are a joy to read!

Re: Dark Lover (11:35am November 29, 2009):

Sandi, first of all, I'd like to say that your new puppy Oreo is absolutely adorable! May she bring you many years of happiness and joy. Do I stick with one genre? I used to! I only used to read books by Danielle Steel until someone from work introduced me to Debbie Macomber and others. We used to have a book exchange that myself and others arranged; bringing in the paperbacks we no longer wanted. So from there I learned about other authors. I distinctly remember reading as a young adult novels with castles in them, so I am thinking maybe Victoria Holt, etc.? Today I read contemporary romance (not chick lit), romance historicals, western historicals, cozy mysteries. I don't care to read paranormals and vampires. Yes, I do keep the books by my favorite authors such as Linda Lael Miller, Debbie Macomber, Belva Plain, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Lisa Kleypas, Kristen Hannah, etc. And yes, I have tons of books tha I have yet to read. And I also have quite a lot of books that I have read and hate to give away.

Re: The Promise (3:29pm October 12, 2009):

Sandi, once again you wrote a beautiful blog, which I always enjoy reading. Like you, I constantly am asking myself lately, where did the time go? I am 63 already and sometimes sit down and wonder -- how can that be? When my children talk about their kids, I can remember my own at that age and the things I did for them. Sometimes you just wish you can turn the clock back! As for books, I started out reading Danielle Steel myself in 1979! At first, I would only read her and then someone introduced me to Debbie Macomber and from there, joining reading groups, I have come to know many others. I too find myself with older books, especially if I like the author. I have even ordered used books written years back. Try reading the older books and see if you enjoy them right from the beginning. If not, put it down and try another. I try and switch from new ones to not so new to older ones, and even switch genres too, not to get bored. It doesn't matter how long ago the books were written as long as you are enjoying them. I have books by Louisa May Alcott which I swear I am going to read someday, somehow!

Re: The Red Pony (4:01pm June 7, 2009):

It's amazing that I love to read and presently have over 100 books on the TBR pile -- my children both hate to read! Isn't that something? I could never understand it, as by the time they were in school, choices were so very different. I always encouraged them, even now as adults with children of their own, but they still don't care to. But they do read to their children and encourage their children to read.

Re: The Red Pony (3:58pm June 7, 2009):

In high school, from freshman year to senior year, we were given a list of books to read during the summer and we were tested on them when we returned. Back then, we didn't have book stores in the neighborhood or ordering online. We would go down to Barnes and Noble way down in NYC (I think 14th street; somewhere around there) and look for the books. Of course since that was the only place, they were sold out right away. I could hardly ever find the books; never cared for any of the titles, etc. Very bad choices; never even heard of the books! Back then you were never given a choice of -- you read what they told you. It would have been so much easier if we could have bought the books at the school! God forbid Catholic high school would have made it easier for you!!!! I hated the school and could not wait to graduate. But I always was a great reader and loved books. My favorite classics are Gone with the Wind and Louisa Alcott's Little Women and her others.

Re: The Warrior (2:00pm May 24, 2009):

I don't think wanting to see Fiddler on the Roof final tour and getting tickets would be considered impulsive! This is once in a lifetime thing! I loved the movie and envy you for going! I only hope someday it will be on tv, but probably not. Am I impulsive? Yes, sometimes I am, especially when it comes to buying things. Sometimes I see things on the shopping channels and just have to have it! And buying books all the time. Someone would mention a great book, I would look it up and see the reviews and purchase it, even used, hardcover, if it is available! I must have about 90 books I haven't read it, and I still keep buying! Also, very impulsive buyer when shopping at WalMart! Very bad girl there!

Re: The Secret Life of Bees (8:38am February 9, 2009):

Half the time, I am not even aware if the books I read have been made into a movie! If I have read a book and find out a movie has been made, I will definitely watch it. If I have enjoyed the movie and did not read the book, then I will read the book. I recently saw on TV one of LaVyrle Spencer's movie and I did read the book ahead of time and just went over the notes that I had written. I did enjoy the movie; only thing in the book they said the son he didn't know he had looked exactly like him, but in the movie he didn't. I believe it was called Home Song.
