Finally

Romance Erotica Sensual | Romance Contemporary

FINALLY is the ninth book in L.P. Maxa’s “RiffRaff Records” series. While I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary to have read every book in this series to enjoy FINALLY, I think reading LOYALTY first is imperative. Each book features one of the Matthews twins. LOYALTY focuses on how Cash Matthews falls in love and how Crue’s relationship with Avory fractures seemingly irreparably. FINALLY is set about five years after the events of LOYALTY take place, and detail how Crue and Avory have grown and find their way back to each other. As a fan of this series, I was highly anticipating this book and it did not disappoint. For romance readers who may be new to this series, FINALLY will appeal to fans of “second chance at love” stories.

Crue Matthews and Avory Connor grew up in an unusual but privileged and loving environment. Their parents were friends and former bandmates who built homes next to each other. It’s in this type of tightknit environment that they fell in love and fell hard for each other. In FINALLY, you learn that miscommunication and an understandable amount of immaturity was ultimately responsible for Crue and Avory’s big breakup. Now, no longer teenagers, most of this story is about Crue trying to win Avory back while simultaneously trying to get her to recognize her part in their breakup and five-year separation. For Avory, Crue is a ghost that has haunted her life and every relationship she’s tried to cultivate since. Avory’s story is one of a path to self-awareness. Both characters are realistically flawed, yet I enjoyed their story and find them to be perfectly matched and equally entertaining. Because L.P. Maxa tells FINALLY from alternating perspectives, fans of this series and this couple gain a better understanding of these characters, their feelings, and their motivations.

FINALLY is a superbly satisfying conclusion to an epic love story. The tension between these characters as they alternately resist and embrace reconnecting is delicious. This story has everything I want – guilty pleasure angsty goodness, super sexy times, electrifying emotional connections, and great characters. For longtime fans of this “RiffRaff” series, like myself, L.P. Maxa provides an epilogue for just about every couple in this series. I eagerly await L.P. Maxa’s next book.

SUMMARY

EPIC

We’re end game. We’re forever. That's what Crue Matthews had told Avory Connor since they were teenagers, and she'd believed him. She'd believed everything he told her, especially that he'd given up being the most prolific f-boy in five counties. Then, she believed he betrayed her. When trust was broken she couldn't find it in her heart to forgive him. Worse, he never forgave himself, and for five miserable years, she buried her pain while he wallowed in his. But Crue is done waiting, and Avory is forced to face some hard truths. They need to forgive each other. Neither one of them was innocent in what happened, and both of them have been limping along as they lived their lives. Now they must learn to trust each other or there's no chance for the future they were promised.
