Patricia "Patch" is a cougar-shifter orphaned at ten and it was only the Lone Pine Pride alpha's daughter Lila Fallon that had her taken into the pride and their home. But she has never really been a part of the pride or the family; she is a lone-shifter who knows the safety this Pride has given her. Now with so much happening, all she wants to do is get away, but everything transpires against her. She may yet find herself TAMING THE LION whether she wants to or not.
Roman Jaeger is the hand picked successor to the Alpha of the Pride and soon to be married to Lila. Neither of them is in love with the other, it is just a duty. He has accepted his duty but why is he now feeling a wildness whenever he sees Patch.
Forced to return to the pride homes because of the rumors of shifter abductions, Patch isn't happy. She usually disappears while in heat but she can't do that now and luck has it that more than she wants she is thrown into the sight of Roman. Her secret may come out whether she plans to or not. How can she have what she wants when it will hurt her best friend? And Roman begins to wonder how he can take the lead of the Pride and marry Lila when his heart will always belong to another.
TAMING THE LION is an amazing, sizzling read that will hold you from the first page to the last. This is actually Vivi Andrews Lone Pine Pride Book two but where Book one (Jaguar's Kiss) was written from Lila and Santiago's point of view, this is all Roman and Patch. It was almost as if the first book was re-written but of course with more to do with Roman learning to take over the Pride and Patch trying not to act on her feelings for Roman. I enjoyed this book because it went further than the first ... delving into his past and having him step up and start to demand things that he feels is right for the Pride. You will be happy to read that things work out right for the lovers, as well as those from book one.
Just a warning for those who care, there was a bit of a cliffhanger ... as they deal with an abducted shifter and a group called the Organization. This fantastic, sexy and touching read will go into my read again pile and I can't wait to see what Ms. Andrews does next with the Pride.
