Suspense
Andrea Finch, a rising star in her department makes a split
second decision that derails everything she has worked so
hard for. She's on leave and at loose ends when she gets a
call from her brother. He needs money and though she would
prefer to ignore him, instinct tells her there is something
really wrong. She finds herself searching a dusty Texas
border town for answers. She is so hoping her brother
isn't too FAR GONE for her to be able to help him.
FBI agent Jon North is working undercover investigating an
unsolved murder that just maybe part of a bigger, deadlier
plot. He meets Andrea and finds that evidence is pointing
straight to her brother. Jon needs Andrea's help but this
stubborn cop doesn't feel too cooperative, even if she is
attracted to the agent.
Together they race the clock to uncover and stop this
deadly plot, while Andrea protects her only sibling. In
doing so she may put a final end to her career and build an
impenetrable wall between her and her hearts desire.
FAR GONE will have you gripping the edge of your seat. The
action is fast-paced with just the right touches of
suspense and much needed breaks to include a heated
romance. Andrea and Jon feed off each other perfectly, both
are no nonsense when it comes to law and are not willing to
deviate from the path of right. It's the romance and
relationship side that they differ, but still with the goal
in mind to win. The tension is very real both between them
and the case that unfolds around them. I did like the way
he felt the need to nudge her to fight for her job when she
was just ready to pack it in. He made her understand that
groveling and calling in favors are very different things.
Author Laura Griffin has the ability to put you right in
the middle of the action so realistically that you will
find yourself ready to duck and run at times. FAR GONE is a
very good
book that is going into my to read again shelf.
