After losing all their savings in a Ponzi scheme, Madeline,
Avery, and Nikki are brought together by the only thing any
of them has left, Bella Flora, a fixer-upper on TEN BEACH
ROAD in Pass-a-Grille, Florida. Each woman is facing her
own challenges. Madeline, a homemaker enjoying the empty
nest, finds herself unexpectedly with an unemployed and
depressed husband, a sick mother-in-law who calls her by the
name of her husband's ex-girlfriend, and a pregnant
daughter. Avery, an architect, finds herself unemployed
after being pushed out of the home repair TV show she
started with her (now ex-) husband. Nikki, matchmaker to the
wealthy and spoiled, no longer has a business after losing
all her money and trusting the wrong person. For each
woman, Bella Flora is her last hope. Though strangers when
they meet, the women band together to renovate and sell the
house.
TEN BEACH ROAD is a story about renovating a home and a
life. The women, and the family and friends who join them,
find a way to appreciate the best of Bella Flora while
working hard to make the changes needed to make it beautiful
again. The restoration process parallels their own personal
reinventions. Each must find and protect what is best in
herself while making the tough decisions and necessary
changes. The strength of the story comes in the friendship
that develops between the women and how they encourage and
challenge each other. Ms. Wax has written a lovely story
that recognizes the power of the female spirit, while being
fun, emotional, and a little romantic.
Madeline, Avery, and Nikki are strangers to each other,
but they have one thing in common. They each wake up one
morning to discover their life savings have vanished,
along with their trusted financial manager- leaving them
with nothing but co-ownership of a ramshackle beachfront
house.
Throwing their lots in together, they take on the
challenge of restoring the historic property. But just as
they begin to reinvent themselves and discover the power
of friendship, secrets threaten to tear down their trust-
and destroy their lives a second time.
