Bred for logic not emotion, the Psy stand apart from humans and Changelings. In fact, the Psy rule the world. They maintain their control through cold efficiency, and even though they consider themselves above violence and what they term animal behavior, deep down they know it's a lie. There are those among them who love and feel as strongly as the silliest of humans. These few are ruthlessly cut from the Psy herd and reconditioned. Lobotomized as it were. There are those among the Psy who hunt and kill and do it as viciously as the most powerful predators. Their fate is far less certain.
When a Psy serial killer stalks and murders Changeling women, the Psy Council covers up the killings. Although the Changelings are out for blood vengeance, rather than start a war that will deplete both Psy and Changeling, they choose to infiltrate the Psy Council in an attempt to gather information that will point the way to the killer. Sascha Duncan becomes the unwitting instrument of their subterfuge.
Although the Changeling pack is unaware of it, Sascha is flawed. Hiding her emotions constantly from her Psy colleagues, Sascha lives in terror that her secret will cause her to be pulled in for reconditioning; a fate worse than death for the Psy who are faced to undergo the change.
As alpha male in the territory, Lucas Hunter sets his sight on getting information from Sascha any way he can, even if it means seducing the icy Psy council-member-in-training. Lucas realizes there is something different about Sascha from the start and sets out to teach her the joys of the five senses in the most pleasurable ways possible. When the pack finally comes clean to Sascha about their suspicions that the killer is a Psy, she doesn't hesitate to help them track down the monster hiding among her own people. A butcher who now realizes Sascha's differences himself and will use all his power to lure her into his net.
SLAVE TO SENSATION is a sensual romance set in an alternate reality America with just a bit of mystery to keep readers flipping pages. Character-driven and well-written, it's not easy to put down at bedtime; it kept me reading well into the night. A sequel, VISIONS OF HEAT, is already slated for a spring 2007 release and fans will be clamoring for it.
