Rage, the recently released fourth book in the series, received 41/2 stars from RT Magazine.
One of the reasons that the series works so well is that Debra Webb has managed to combine an action-packed plot with a character driven plot, not an easy feat.
Jess Harris and Dan Burnett are the main characters in all of the books.
Jess is a kick-ass, independent heroine whose continual determination to do things her own way, even if they are outside Police protocol, drives Dan crazy. He is very protective of her and always has her back, which is not easy since he is the Chief of Police of the Birmingham Police Department.
Given their past history, each book allows them to cautiously come to terms with their feelings for each other in a second chance at love while at the same time that they are dealing with murder and mayhem, including a serial killer.
Another great aspect of the series is that Ms. Webb allows the reader to see the flaws of Jess and Dan as well as those other recurring characters. You feel invested in the characters with respect to their personal and professional lives.
I highly recommend Rage and the other books in the series. I have the Kindle version of these books and anyone fortunate enough to win the entire series to date, will be on happy camper! (Marijane Diodati 6:13pm May 20, 2013)
I would like to reiterate my recommendation of Rage and the entire series. The earlier books, for whoever does not win, are Obsession, Impulse, and Power. I guarantee that anyone who reads Rage will go back and read the first htree and those to follow.
I was fortunate to win a proofread copy of Revenge, the next book in the series, and I recommend it as well. Revenge won't be released until July 30.
