My family has dwindled but with my daughter's marriage we picked up new family members. And we now hava a granddaughter who will be one tomorrow.

We had her bday party here today.

I remember all the good meals cooked by loved ones who are no longer with us - they are probably making sumptuous meals up in heaven!
(
Pat Lieberman 12:14pm November 16, 2009)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know the feeling where the kitchen will never smell the way it used to again.

My sister has always been the one who hosts the holiday dinners, the birthday parties, all the occasions where food and family are. Since I moved across the country from her, that is what I miss most - the great food and company at her house.

When we were little we always went to my Grandma's for all of the holiday's. Now we all meet at my sister's house I get there early to help her I don't cook much put I help her with cutting up whatever needs it and keeping things washed up as we go.
(
Sherry Strode 4:52am November 16, 2009)

There is never going to be anything like the smell of grandma's house. Just all of the love and joy that is there.
(
Joanne Reynolds 6:26am November 16, 2009)

My great grand mother lived with us when I was growing up. I miss most of her food (but not the sweet and sour kidneys!) She made a fruit cake that was very yummy. Now that I am grown up and she is gone, I wish I had gotten her recipes. I also wish I had her teach me to quilt.
(
Lisa Holstein 8:12am November 16, 2009)

what a beautiful story! this really made me miss my grandma. I am glad that your grandma was such a positive role model a lot of people could learn form your story whats the holidays are really about
(

Love your stories-have a Great Thanksgiving!!
(
Lisa Mason 9:35am November 16, 2009)

My grandmother was a special person. She died many years ago, but I still remember the things she did.
(
Wilma Frana 9:39am November 16, 2009)

Nothing beats a Grandma. I
think we could take a lesson
from Grandmas in this hard
economic time.They were ahead
of their time in recycling and
budgeting. Those butter tubs
for storage, should be
considered recycle chic. Im
getting my pile ready for the
Thanksgiving leftovers. If
they were good enough for
Grandma, they should be good
enough for us! Each of my
Grams raised families of 7 on
a min budget and like your
gram knew how to "whip"
something up from nothing. In
todays busy lifestyles , this
seems to be a dying art.
Something should be said about
just slowing down our life and
enjoying the simpler things
like our Gram's did.
(
Wendy Winkler 9:42am November 16, 2009)

I'm really fortunate that I have
a mother who loves to cook and
bake - so I am taking advantage
of it while I can!
(
Margay Roberge 9:49am November 16, 2009)

For me I always think of my mom's stuffing. Thanksgiving holds a lot of good memories. However this year is going to be tough. We just lost my brother on July 17th to Colon Cancer. It will be hard missing one at our family table.
(
Amber Barnes 9:55am November 16, 2009)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your son. My Mom is on a walker now and so she doesn't cook like she used to. I do all the holiday meals now.
(
Crystal Broyles 10:16am November 16, 2009)

We live thousands of miles away from our family and the holidays are a tough time. Thankfully we are still close and like to stick with traditions. I have been cooking the same things my grandma and mom have cooked since I was young; this keeps the feeling of family with us throughout the holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving.
(
Dawn Maldonado 10:20am November 16, 2009)

Michelle,
It sounds like we shared the same grandma.
Now a days my mom does the Thankgiving meal and she cooks way too much for the family. She always winds up with more leftovers than she or anyone else has room for.
Back when everyone would meet up at grandma's house the families (numbers)were much larger, now they are half that size or smaller.
My contribution to the meal is always some sort of fancy off the wall dessert.
(
Gigi Hicks 11:27am November 16, 2009)

Happy Thanksgiving to you. Whether it's at our house or my mother's I do enjoy the smells of a Thanksgiving feast cooking.
(
Maureen Emmons 11:31am November 16, 2009)

At Thanksgiving my daughter took over cooking our feast, what a treat for me. At Christmas it's my Mom's house, I'm 51, but I still love the smells and all the love my Mom puts into her Holiday dinner. I bring dishes to share but I love going to a home filled with love.
(
Theresa Buckholtz 11:38am November 16, 2009)

My grandmother raised me and she was a fabulous cook. She taught me how to cook, and be a responsible adult. My grandmother is the reason why I became a caterer, food was always an adventure in her home. Have A Happy Thanksgiving. :)
(
Tawania Etheridge 11:40am November 16, 2009)

Oh I remember going to grandma's on Thanksgiving, she had huge meals. She had about 50 grandchildren so we are talking huge dinners. I cook a dinner for my family now and we have about 12 people for these dinners, a big differents. Families are just not as big now as they use to be.
(
Gail Hurt 11:41am November 16, 2009)

I used to cook for 25-30 people on Thankgiving but not anymore. Now it's my husband & I so we go out to eat. But it was fun.
(
Pat Wilson 11:42am November 16, 2009)

Your Grandma sounds like my mom. I dread the day she passes on. I would probably not be able to cook anything without thinking of her.
(
Cherie Japp 12:04pm November 16, 2009)

Aw, your Grandmother sounds like an awesome woman :)
Unfortunately, neither my grandmother or mother ever had the time or patience to teach me to cook... so, I'll be counting on Starbucks to have banana nut bread for me, lol.
My dad's side of the family used to get together for Thanksgiving, and since he came from a family with seven other siblings, it was a big turn out... but, after my grandfather passed away, everyone just did their own thing. I'll be staying at home with my step-mother and my sister :)
(
Ali Flores 12:25pm November 16, 2009)

Side note: You are on my auto buy list & I buy all your books when they release :)
This is going to be sad, compared to the majority here. We take for granted holidays when we are kids. That these celebrations will always be there. I wish I could go back in time when we were little because that is really the last time we as a whole family got together. My mom had to leave my dad (he was an abusive drunk) Grandma just couldn't believe her son was what we said, not that the bruises weren't enough proof or anything. But were no longer invited to dinners anymore. So for years mom. sis and me did the best we could with what we had. You think when you get married there is another chance to bring families together. Boy was I wrong. I have the best husband in the world. But his goofy mother disowned us. Her only son was now married and she for whatever reason, felt he had his dad and since they were divorced. That was that. Later I found out that women who are seperated and have only 1 child AND its a boy, they get funny about other females in there sons life. So we claimed wholy to his dad and step moms side. But the kicker about this, my step mother in law has never invited my family (Mom & Sis)to their family get togethers (15 Years now) because my mom and sister are not her blood. If that aint a crock. But his dad, who was awesome, would come to my house during the holidays (mostly to dive his wife nuts and get back at her for not letting my family in ) And we really made the best of it until he was killed in the line of duty 2 years ago. So we are back to Mom, sis, hubby and me. Even with all that BS you would think I'd hate the holidays. But I don't. But I really miss being a kid at my grandmas house. On a Happy note, we get plenty of tasty leftovers. As the old sayng goes..When you think life left you with lemons... make lemonade AND the fewer nuts you let into your home the saner your life will be :)
(
Stephanie Martin 12:50pm November 16, 2009)

My mother was an awesome cook..no recipes needed. She has been gone for 21 yrs and I still miss her and her cooking.

My father's mother, Nannie was a wonderful cook. The thing I will always associate with Nannie is her Banana Pudding..I have never tasted anything to compare. Hers was made from scratch....
(
Kimberley Coover 1:12pm November 16, 2009)

My Mom died in 2006 so our last family Thanksgiving was 2005 (dad passed away 1992& baby brother in 2003 both cancer). My Mom was 84 so we went to my sisters to eat. We had so much food and many, many desserts..My favorite.. Everyone brought 1 or 2 dishes and my sister & her family and my 2 adult children enjoyed seeing each other. I do miss the large family gatherings and my family is getting smaller (son-in-law passed away 17 Oct. Renal Sarcoma). Last yr we ate here at my home only 6 present..I agree with lemons and nuts...LOL. Have a great day....

Marjorie Carmony 2:12pm November 16, 2009)

It's not a holiday unless we have Mom's stuffing, turkey and the works. I remember making cut-out sugar cookies with Grandma Mary first and then Mom. Snipping dates with scissors was one of the jobs she gave us. Decorating with royal frosting and colored sugar and tiny silver balls made cookies special.
(
Alyson Widen 2:27pm November 16, 2009)

My grandmother taught me to cook, too, and the memories I have of us in the kitchen are beyond precious. She had to go into assisted living this year when my grandfather passed away, so it will be a bittersweet Thanksgiving. I'll be cooking this year, in her honor.
(
Michelle St. James 3:07pm November 16, 2009)

I am trying to make memories for my grandchildren, I will never be the cook one of my grandma's was. The other one made instant coffee and used a crock pot when she cooked. My grandchildren like the frozen pancakes better anyway, more time to snuggle and watch cartoons with them.
(
Vikki Parman 3:23pm November 16, 2009)

Those are such sweet memories you have of your grandma. I feel the same way about my mom. There's certain cooking smells I associate with her. And some of the funniest stories about her revolve around her early cooking misadventures (when she was a young girl just learning to cook).
(
Jody Faltys 3:32pm November 16, 2009)

Hi Michele, thanks for sharing your memories. My grandma didn't cook much, that or we just weren't there for it, and for the longest time my mom didn't either but my dad did. Now, I am the one who cooks and tries to "make do" with what is in the cabinets but when I fix something the kids love, it is so worth it!
(
Sharla Long 3:38pm November 16, 2009)

Hi Michelle,
Both of my Grandma's were Great cooks. I think most Grandma's are like that, at least mine were.
I still save some of my Cool Whip & Cottage Cheese Containers, even though I have Tupperware too. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
(
Jolynn Rood 3:53pm November 16, 2009)

You sound like you really loved your Grandma and she seemed to have a big influence on you. Mine did too. I lived with her during the summers and I really learned a lot from her-how to cook, preserve foods, sew and crochet. She was not an educated woman but she was very wise.
Happy Thanksgiving
(
Joy Isley 4:07pm November 16, 2009)

Grandma's cooking was hard to beat. She never needed a recipe, just added a pinch or this and that, and everything always tasted so good.
(
Cathy MacDonald 4:23pm November 16, 2009)

I was cooking by time i could sit up in a high chair! I had hip dysplasia and was in a cast until I was 4. Because I couldn't ran and play like the other kids, my babysitter used to put me up into the highchair and let me cook with her. I was making cookies and telling time by time I was 3 years old. She is a second mother to me. I will always remember making no-bake cookies wither. My dad used to make Thanksgiving Dinner for all of us and I remember being 6 years old helping him make stuffing and pumpkin pies! Thank goodness for Daddies!
(
Lisa Glidewell 4:34pm November 16, 2009)

Too funny Michelle about the Sauerkraut and sausage sound like my grandmother too! I only ate the sausage because I never like the cooked sauerkraut. I make banana nut bread every holiday season from her recipe and I have even sent some to the soldiers in Irag for their holidays. I wish you and everyone a very blessed holiday season and love your books :)
(
Tamara Bennington 4:35pm November 16, 2009)

We now live in a high-rise for seniors and disabled people; what do I miss the most??

The HUGE kitchen that we had in our house -- everyone would come to our house for all the holidays and birthdays, etc.

When our sons were toddlers I baked 3 times a week -- nothing from a mix, either. Home made cakes, pies, cookies, etc.

Now that I am semi-retired with NO toddlers hanging on my legs -- do I bake even once a week -- very rarely.!!!

I used to make home made candy and decorated cakes. I still have my Wilton tips and candy molds but just don't seem to find the time or the energy any more.

My grandmother cooked and baked on a coal stove and she was the best baker you would ever want to meet.

I'm just an old-fashioned lady - I knit, crochet, sew, embroider and all types of needlework. I also used to make home made jellies and jams and made my own apple pie filling to preserve along with vegetables, etc.

Hope everyone has a GREAT evening.
(
Ruth Chesick 4:38pm November 16, 2009)

Happy Thanksgiving Michelle..in my house, I make the banana bread. My teen son loves it. I love to have good smells coming from the kitchen. I was much thinner in my younger days. I realize now that I didn't eat. so my kids learn early to grab a can and give it to me as a hint to cook. Isn't that sad? Now I cook all of the time.
(
Phyllis Lamken 4:40pm November 16, 2009)

Wow--That does make me think of my grandmother, also. What a wonderful column. Happy Thanksgiving.
(
G S Moch 4:54pm November 16, 2009)

Every Sunday my grandmother baked a cake. We got there just in time for me to lick the frosting bowl!

Thanks,
Tracey D
(
Tracey Dent 4:59pm November 16, 2009)

My older family has passed on
and passed the torch to me. My
house is where they all come
to eat and reminisce about
other holiday get-to-gathers,
and I love it. I have a
daughter and daughter in law
that both beg for recipes and
advice. When we do family
vacations at the beach each
family has to provide a meal
one day and surprisingly they
seldom opt for take out.They
like to show off what they
have learned since last year.
And the internet has become
the go to place for all of us
for recipes. When the college
age kids are around they beg
for home cooking. They have
overdone on pizzas and subs
and are happy with homemade
soups and casseroles. And best
of all, if I cook they clean!
(
Lisa Richards 5:12pm November 16, 2009)

My grandmother also kept Cool Whip containers and butter containers, cause you just never knew when you might need something to store something in. There was ALWAYS a jug of sweet tea in the fridge - made with tea bags in a pot of boiling water. And to this day, when asked what my favorite smell is - it is cinnamon and sugar toast - that Grandma always made for me!!
(
Kelli Jo Calvert 5:31pm November 16, 2009)

I am going to visit my parents next week & I am shamelessly looking forward to my mother making all my favorites. For one whole week I will be someone's child again, not the responsible adult. I can't tell you how peaceful that is.
(
Mary Preston 5:42pm November 16, 2009)

My grandma taught me how to bake too. I miss her, but her cinnamon rolls live on...I make them every year...They are soooo good!!!

I love this time of year!! We have a huge family and this year I'm hosting the Thanksgiving dinner for the 1st time. Just hope I don't burn the turkey..Hehehe.
(
Mitzi Hinkey 5:49pm November 16, 2009)

My Mom was a great cook who never used a recipe to cook anything and always cooked from scratch. This will be my 2nd Thanksgiving without her and I still miss her every day
(
Teresa Ward 5:55pm November 16, 2009)

You brought back many good memories!! I still find it difficult to throw away thone empty margarine containers!! My Granny made the best chicken and dumpling ever!! Which I am making tonigh with (gasp) boxed biscuit mix!!
(
Denise Elrod 6:17pm November 16, 2009)

Hi Michele,

Oh, your grandmother sounds just like mine. Yes, we have to be very thankful for all the wonderful memories they have given us. *G*

Happy Thanksgiving!!
(
Maithe Ortiz 6:32pm November 16, 2009)

Hi Michele,
What a great story. I don't really have any memories of my grandmother on my dad's side, she passed when I was very young and we were not really close with my Grandmother on my Mom's side. My memories of any Holiday was with my Mom's cooking, the best in the world. We lost her 3 years ago this past March and I just lost my Dad just 13 weeks ago, so this Holiday season will be very tough. I just like to keep my parents close at heart and cherish the memories I have of all the amazing holidays that we shared together. I wish you and your son the best Thanksgiving yet.
(
Lynda Lorow 7:19pm November 16, 2009)

For the Holidays, we used to gather at my sister's and everyone cooked something. The gatherings were always huge, with lots to eat and plenty of laughter. Now the family has grown way beyond even enormous, so we can't do that anymore. We have to be satisfied with having Thanksgiving dinner at home and that is fun, too.
(
Patsy Hagen 7:24pm November 16, 2009)

I haven't felt like cooking since I went back to work full time but I do manage to make turkey and trimmings for Christmas and Thanksgiving and usually for Easter, a nice ham. But with all of us rushing back and forth between school for the kids and work for us, it's mostly fast food, frozen food or food I've prepared ahead of time.
(
Diane Sadler 8:19pm November 16, 2009)

lol your grandmother sounds like my granny. also something good to eat and if she didn't have a kitchen full of food then she'd start cooking as soon as you walked in the the door. between her cooking and love of books I was perfectly happy to stay with her all the time
(
Pam Kinsey 8:23pm November 16, 2009)

mmmmm....banana bread! yummm! Have a great Thanksgiving!
(
Michelle K 8:29pm November 16, 2009)

The holidays bring such bitter-sweet memories. The past seemed so much simpler. As I grow older being with my family is a very precious thing to me. We need to appreciate what we have. It will disapear to quickly.
(
Rosemary Krejsa 8:30pm November 16, 2009)

I've always wished I had "grandma" stories like this one. I really only had close contact with one of them before I can remember, from birth to about 2 and a half. The time was definitely of very little food: the last year and a half in warn-torn Germany. She died about 3 years later during surgery.

I have no memory of my paternal grandmother's ever behaving as you describe. Like me, she rarely seems to have cooked, especially after she lost my grandfather when I was 11. However, she did bring us goodies from bakeries, candy stores and the like, and took us out to eat from time to time: she had more money than my parents did.

However, I have fond memories of visiting my maternal grandfather and his second wife. She always made delicious meals and like your grandmother, was always able to make something tasty from from a few ingredients.

Now our Thanksgivings (CAN) are usually pot-luck, too.
(
Sigrun Schulz 8:33pm November 16, 2009)

My grandma made the BEST banana nut bread! What a great memory.
(
Kara Conrad 9:25pm November 16, 2009)

Hope you're having a great day so far! You're book sounds pretty cool...would love to read it!
(
Melissa Cleaver 9:44pm November 16, 2009)

Your story brought back wonderful thoughts of Mom and Grandma, cooking away. Making everything from scratch. I can smell and taste it now. Those were the days and the blessings. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and story, Happy Thanksgiving
(
Barbara Ryan 9:55pm November 16, 2009)

My grandmother is the best cook! I started a family cookbook which features many of her favorite recipes because I love her cooking!
(
Brenda Rupp 10:04pm November 16, 2009)

Great post, Michelle! I miss my grandmas. One of favorite parts of Thanksgiving dinner is my mom's dressing. Yummmm.
(
Penny Rader 10:17pm November 16, 2009)

such a sweet story!
though I never got to meet my grandparents, it's holiday memories like these that always make me wish they had lived long enough to be in my life past infancy.
(
Bella Franco 10:45pm November 16, 2009)

I love banana bread! I wish you could
share your Grandma's recipe.
(
Sue Ahn 11:05pm November 16, 2009)

My grandmother is 86 years old and is still a great cook. We are very blessed that she is still healthy and baking for us. I haven't mastered her old fashioned T-cakes or sweet bread yet, but hopefully one day I will.
(
Tara Woods 11:16pm November 16, 2009)

I truly wish my grandmother had been able to "translate" her pinches & dabs into written recipes so that we could continue her marvelous baking traditions. Her homemade rolls were so light we used to joke about keeping a napkin over the bread basket to keep the rolls from floating away. She couldn't record her recipes because it was always a matter of how the dough "feels" that determined whether or not it was ready to bake. I do miss the amazing smells from the kitchen(s) at holiday families. I really do miss all those huge family gatherings--food, drink, family members all over the house; we used to be a large, close clan before everyone grew up and moved away.

You are so right. I was lucky to have
two very different grandmothers, but
they were both good cooks and knew
how to make due. There were 9
children in my Mom's family and 7 in
my Dad's. I know things were tight
many times. I'm the oldest of 6 and
my Mom was a wonder at getting
meals on the table. I love to cook and
taught all our children early on how to
cook. Now that they are grown and
out of the house I don't cook much.
My husband, also a good cook, gets
home from work before I do, so most
of the time he fixes dinner. I look
forward to the holidays and all the
cooking it entails. I remember all the
wonderful family get-togethers. I can
close my eyes now and smell
Christmas dinner at my
grandmother's. I really cherish those
times and miss them.

I was too young to remember if my grandmother cook Thanksgiving dinner. I always remember that my cousin's grandmother (which I called Yin-yin)had always cooked Thanksgiving dinner every year until she got sick. It was a mixed American/Chinese Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Yin-yin.

What a great story. I can relate to the non-cooking generation. I used to love to cook and make big-ish meals but my family members have dwindled down too, so it is easier to make something quick. Occasionally I'll make that big meal with dessert but only when the mood swings me. It better swing me this Thanksgiving, though, as I am hosting dinner at my house :)

My children still live at home and my mother and grandmother come to us over Christmas as well as boyfriends and girlfriends. They tell me that Christmas and boxing day will always be celebrated this way.

Happy Thanksgiving. We are always adding new "traditions" into our Thanksgiving. When my Chinese sister-in-law joined the family, we started trying to add a bit of Chinese flavor to the festivities (although she LOVES green bean casserole).

My grandmother made the best pumpkin pie. When I tried to learn how she just dumped things together. I asked her "How Much>" Her comment was, "When it looks right". Never did make a pie like hers!

Love Thanksgiving and family gathering. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters, (I'm #6 of 7)when we get together with inlaws, niece, nephew and cusins it becomes a very big party. It is the best and I will not be able to be there this year. As for my grandparents they lived in Puerto Rico and Thanksgiving is not celebrated. It's an American thing and I'm glad I'm part of it. God bless and hope you have as much to thanks as I do.
(
Cynthia Plaza-Harney 7:12pm November 17, 2009)

My grandmother cooked and she taught me how to cook also. But Thanksgiving Day we all went to my aunt and uncle's house a few blocks away. We would have a turkey but being Italian we also had some kind of pasta. When my grandmother died, we still went there to celebrare. But after my mother passed away, so did these traditions. I remember them and I will always cherish them. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

I have always liked going over to all of my Grandma's houses. Like everyone has said I could always count on getting a treat when I was younger. At one point I had my paternal grandmother, maternal grandmother, and paternal great grandmother alive. They lived within 30 minutes of each other. Now only my mom's mom is alive and she's 83 now. Alzheimer's has robbed her of much of her memory and each day I cherish the memories I have of times when she was vibrant and more alert. Good Lord I am going to miss her when she goes home to Heaven.

Hi Michelle I loved your post. My grandmother on my mom's side, who's been passed away for 13 yrs now used to make this great chicken and rice dish every holiday and an egg custard that was a request with out fail from the family :). My grandma on my dad's site makes this awesome creamstyle corn, and she always makes coated pecans for me. She is a wonderful cook and usually starts making treats a couple of weeks ahead of time.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I love the holidays. I don't have a large family, but I am lucky enough to have my husband and daughter. While we don't have a big family get together, we do get to spend more time together and I know my daughter is going to be grown before we know it, so I try to charish those moments. Happy Holidays!

I would like to nominate my daughter, she is getting married in 1 1/2 yrs, and she has been helping out with bills , because my husband has been out of work since Feb. She knows we will have a hard time getting money together for a wedding, but that's ok! That makes her a special daughter to me.

I'm nominating a special friend who is very worried about how she will afford Christmas gifts for her two little boys this year. She is recently divorced and although she is able to cover her housing costs and miscellaneous bills, it's rather tight for extras. The other day, her oldest, who is 9, said to her, "Santa isn't coming to our house this year, is he?"
(

G S Moch 10:47pm November 27, 2009)

My mother was my emotional mainstay throughout most of my life. Since she passed away, her place has been taken by my sister. She has been supporting me financially as well throughout a time of illness. I would love to be able to do something for her, even if it is only for her to buy some books for her grandchildren.

As with most small libraries, our
funding is lacking. I do what I can to
make the pennies stretch, but there
are always more books than I have
money for. I am the children's
librarian, but help select and purchase
for the whole library.

I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE MY MOM. SHE'S BEEN VERY ILL AND IN THE HOSPITAL. SHE ALMOST DIED ON HER BIRTHDAY SO THE PARTY AND GIFTS GOT LOST IN THE SHUFFLE AND SHE NEVER GOT TO CELEBRATE.NOW SHE IS WELL ENOUGH TO READ SO I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT SURPRISE FOR HER.
(

I would like to nominate my daughter. She's been going to school full time, working part time, all while taking care of a husband and a baby. She also takes care of a cat, and 2 pugs, one of whom is blind and needs special care. I think a little cheer to make her feel special when she feels overwhelmed would brighten her day.
(
Theresa Buckholtz 11:46am November 28, 2009)

I'd like to nominate my mother. She works for the local community foundation, is an active member of the Rotary Club and Women's Initiave, takes care of both sets of granparents, and baby sits my 2 and 4 year old nieces 16+ days out of each month. She's also had 2 major surgeries this year and took care of my father after he had a retinal detachment surgery this summer.
(
Joelle Beebe 1:05pm November 28, 2009)

My daughter is my choice for nominee. She has suffered great hardships this year and a gift for her to use for her family for Christmas would be absolutely wonderful.
(
Mitzi Hinkey 4:38pm November 28, 2009)

I would like to nominate my
friend from work. She lost her
husband to cancer over the
summer and has two kids under
the age of 10. She has been so
down in the dumps and has told
numerous other co-workers how
she just cannot get into the
Christmas spirit this year.
All the medical bills and
regular everday household
bills have really set her
finances back and she is
terrified of not having much
under the tree for her little
ones. The fact that their dad
is gone this Christmas for the
first time is going to be hard enough and she really wants
this Christmas to be as
special as she can make it to
help with the sadness they are
going to have to deal with.
Thanks for the awesome
contest. This would surely
brighten up her holidays!

(

I would love to win this for my daughter, her partner and his kids. They are not going to have anything for Christmas otherwise. I cannot afford gifts even for my step-grandchildren. Their Mother is up on burglary charges and their Dad is disabled and fighting for complete custody of them to protect them. Their Grandpa is very ill and their Grandmother is going blind.
These kids don't know what it is to get anything new for anything.
