When Gabriel's business interests are attacked by fire, and a troubled teen is arrested for the arsons Gabriel could have let it be, and let him take the rap whether or not he was the true culprit. However, Mattie believes the young man is not the arsonist, and Gabriel believes in Mattie and together they work to see that not only is the wrong person freed, but work to help him improve his life so that trouble won't come knocking again.
With Against the Fire Ms. Martin has written a hero with a sensitive side, and a heroine with (excuse the pun) fire in her blood to stand up for those she believes need a hand in life.
Both characters have true passion about their jobs, and when they decide to resist the chemistry between them things really heat up.
I believe that if you like romantic suspense then you will enjoy this new trilogy from the talented Kat Martin.
